Close-up panels show the spotted girl with a serious expression stating "WE MUST SAVE THEM FOR THE QUEEN." and noting that "PEOPLE LIKE THEM, WITH A LOT OF LIFE-ENERGY, ARE THE MOST NUTRITIOUS." She adds "BUT YOU CANNOT EAT THEM." and offers "OK, I'LL JUST DO THE OTHER WAY AND LET YOU KILL THEM." A large panel reveals the winged creature's furious face shouting "JUST KILLING THEM ISN'T ENOUGH FOR ME!" and "NO!". Further panels show it raging that "JUST KILLING THEM IS NOWHERE NEAR ENOUGH!" and that even crushing skulls might not satisfy its hatred. It fantasizes about tearing apart corpses, crunching bones, and swallowing guts. The creature is shown lying on the ground as the girl tells it to "STOP ACTING WILD!" and asks "ARE YOU THINKING OF DEFYING ME?". A small distant figure reacts with surprise while the creature insists the other squads do the same thing all the time.

The boy with short black hair and pointed ears glares to the side and demands, "WHAT DO YOU MEAN?" A voice continues, "DESPITE BEING SQUAD-CAPTAIN, THEY KEEP HUNTING MEN ALL THE TIME. DITWUI AND HAGYA DON'T REALLY CARE." The massive lion-like Chimera Ant with a wild mane, skull medallion, and star-patterned wraps leans in close, his face scarred and intense. He states that the only one who keeps his prey alive like a good boy is squad-captain Koruto. The boy suddenly clutches his head in agony, yelling "IT HURTS! DAMMIT AAAAHH!" The lion explains that after playing with their prey, the others simply kill them and leave the corpses behind. He declares he will transfer to another squad so he can torture people as he pleases. Seated on the ground with one fist planted, the lion answers the question "THE REASON?" with "'CAUSE IT'S FUN, OF COURSE."

Hagya's face appears in close-up as he addresses Ditwui, who responds from off-panel. Hagya laughs that once you start killing humans you get addicted because their ability to communicate makes it far more entertaining when they are on the brink of death. Ditwui replies that both teams have already met their quota. In the background, several ants stand among rocks while a large armored ant and a small round creature face Hagya and Koruto. Hagya suggests they could have fun with something as vital as the Queen's food supply. A tiny black creature with large eyes wonders "PERHAPS." Hagya explains they are using their free time to hunt since they enjoy it. Koruto asks if the humans are aware that a few among them are very valuable. Hagya dismisses the idea, calling the humans trash that they are merely cleaning up, and states that wasting vital life-energy is not a problem.

A black-haired Chimera Ant insists, "YOU HAVE TO RESPECT THE RULES." The lion-maned Chimera Ant replies, "AND I'LL TALK TO THAT RAMOTTO GUY, CALM HIM DOWN A BIT," adding, "ANYWAY, I UNDERSTAND. I'LL SAVE THE VALUABLE ONES FOR THE QUEEN." A close-up shows a mouth questioning "RESPECT THE RULES?" followed by the retort "IDIOT" with the sound effect *BAKA*. In a wider scene, the lion-maned Chimera Ant sits among allies as one declares, "LET'S FIND THEM AND EAT THEM," while another notes "VALUABLE PREY ..." The black-haired Chimera Ant observes, "IT'S GOOD THAT THEY'RE FLEXIBLE AND COME UP WITH NEW IDEAS, BUT SOME OF THEM HAVE BEGUN TO DO WHATEVER THEY WANT." He continues, "BUT THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM ... TROOPS WHO THINK FOR THEMSELVES," and asks, "HOW'S RAMOTTO'S CONDITION?" A voice answers, "TONIGHT IS CRITICAL. BUT I THINK HE'LL PULL THROUGH BY FOCUSING ON HIS ANGER." In the distance, several figures walk away. Nearby, a long-haired female Chimera Ant confronts the black-haired one: "HAVE YOU REALLY KEPT A COUNT OF HOW MANY HUMANS YOU'VE TURNED IN?" He retorts, "YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO SAY THAT." She concludes, "IT SHOULDN'T MATTER AS LONG AS WE KEEP MEETING THE REQUIRED QUOTA OF FOOD."

The black-haired Chimera Ant continues, "WE NEED TO APPROACH EACH OF THEM INDIVIDUALLY AND WORK ON THEIR TENDENCIES." Another voice responds, "NO ... WE ALL WORK DIFFERENT HOURS. WE WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO GATHER EVERYONE." In the background, the group walks through a forest as one says, "THAT WON'T DO." and another mutters, "HMM ... ROUGHLY." A panel shows a rocky cave entrance while discussion turns to whether they should tell the Queen. The black-haired Chimera Ant suggests, "WE SHOULD PROBABLY GATHER EVERYONE AND HOLD A MEETING." A small round creature advises, "WELL YOU COULD TRY BEING A LITTLE MORE PRUDENT!" A long-haired character replies, "..." and is told, "SEEMS LIKE A LOT OF WORK. YOU SHOULD TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF." One figure states, "I'LL HANDLE IT." The page ends with a large, menacing close-up of a monstrous, multi-limbed creature with a grotesque face emerging from debris.

In a grim forest clearing, multiple bodies hang limply from tree branches while others lie sprawled across the grass amid scattered debris. The stench of corpses forms a trail through the undergrowth. Gon and Killua examine the scene closely. Killua points out the grim sight and says, "Take a look at this." Gon replies, "Probably." Killua asks, "Is this the so-called hidden side of the NGL?" The two boys stand with rifles in hand. The view widens to show Kite approaching from the left as Gon turns and shouts, "Killua! Kaito!"

The group stands at the edge of a vast rocky canyon with steep cliffs rising on both sides. They walk along a dirt path through dense vegetation. Kite states, "They tend to use mud droppings." Biscuit replies, "These aren't the type of creatures which make underground nests." Gon asks, "...Do you think this is the nest of the Chimera Ants...?" The scene shifts to a dark tunnel entrance, then reveals a large underground chamber filled with hanging lights, stone structures, and scattered debris. The four characters enter the cavernous space together.

The ruined interior of a large industrial facility comes into view, filled with damaged machinery, scattered debris, and abandoned equipment. A voice explains that this is the side of the NGL that people don't really know. The group stands amid the wreckage as someone reacts in shock that it is a drug production factory. A close-up reveals a prominent circular emblem marked with a D, accompanied by the statement that it is a production factory for D. The facility produces one of the most popular drugs in the market right now. Another speaker notes that despite their claims of wanting to preserve nature, it is all a joke, and there is probably a crop field somewhere.

Killua stands with a serious expression, noting that he never imagined such an establishment existed here. The NGL guide explains that the workers were probably simpletons who wanted to live as one with nature, and that perhaps only the upper echelon knew the true operations. She adds that even with weapons, ordinary people would be powerless against the Chimera Ants, guessing that all the residents of the NGL have been wiped out by them. Gon asks about the leader of the NGL. The NGL guide replies that either way this is going to be trouble. Suddenly she senses something and says they have company. Gon reacts with surprise as a large panel reveals three dark cave entrances built into a rocky hillside surrounded by crates.

In a vast underground cavern system, multiple dark tunnel entrances yawn open amid scattered wooden crates. Distant figures stand near the left wall. A long-haired figure wearing a cap and eyepatch stands in the foreground, sensing movement. "TWO ... THREE ... THERE IS ONE COMING FROM EACH OF THE CAVES," the figure reports. "SOMETHING'S APPROACHING SLOWLY FROM THE CENTRAL CAVE." A spiky-haired boy nearby asks about probing range. "ROUGHLY 45 METERS OR SO, DEPENDING ON YOUR HEALTH. GIVE OR TAKE TWO TO THREE METERS," comes the reply. "WHAT'S THE RADIUS YOU CAN PROBE WITH THAT?" the boy inquires. "THEY'RE HERE!" someone shouts. A sudden high-pitched sound erupts as the view shifts to a sweating bald man with facial scars and a heavy chain collar. His eyes widen in alarm. "CHI" and "!?" mark his reaction. In a side panel, a dark cave entrance shows faint movement labeled "SU ..." with notes of high shrill noise and slow movement.

A muscular furry creature with wild hair stands on a rocky ledge, holding a chain. "YOU MAKE TOO MUCH NOISE!" it growls while a smaller figure is crushed beneath its foot with a "CRUNCH" and "HOKYA" sound. A spiky-haired boy watches in shock. The large creature turns and addresses intruders: "HMM? WHO ARE YOU GUYS?" and "YOU ENTER MY TERRITORY SO CASUALLY." Below, two chained captives plead "HELP ME!!" and "HELP ..." while one is crushed. The furry creature lifts the chain and declares "OH WELL, I WAS TIRED OF THEM ANYWAY. I'LL JUST TAKE CARE OF THIS ONE TOO." A close-up shows a long-haired girl with spots on her face looking surprised as a small creature is kicked with "BIKUU" and a squishy sound.

A massive hairy chimera ant named Gan looms with a chain, eliciting a pained "AAH ..." from its victim. Nearby, a sweat-drenched face grimaces as distant figures cry out in distress with "ow-ooooh, ow-ooooh" and "woof! woof!" Gon spots Kite and shouts "KAITO!?" while Kite urgently yells "STOP!" Kite's stern close-up delivers warnings: "IF YOU RUSH AT HIM, YOU'LL FALL INTO HIS TRAP. THERE'S MORE THAN ONE ENEMY. DON'T BE RASH." Below, the winged chimera ant Zazan stands confidently beside the multi-armed spider-like Pike as three figures lie buried in the ground amid "ZU" sound effects. In the distance, Gon, Killua, and Kite approach the scene.

Kite tells Gon firmly, "DON'T LOOK AWAY." The hairy chimera ant Gan turns away with "BYE, BYE." and a loud "*CRUNCH*" while a sign reads "BAKYA." Kite continues, "THE MINUTE YOU LOOK AWAY YOU CAN'T SEE WHAT'S COMING AT YOU." Zazan leans in close with a menacing grin and declares, "BE MY NEW DOGS. I'VE DECIDED, I'M GOING TO LET YOU THREE ..." She then shouts "CAPTURE THEM!" as she and Pike charge forward with arms outstretched. A small goat-like creature appears between them amid radiating speed lines.

A figure in a hat and glasses stands amid rubble, declaring, "If we don't take care of them right here, the number of casualties will mount innumerably." The same figure continues, "Chimera Ants are naturally very belligerent, but it looks like when they're mixed with evil, they become evil themselves." Killua, wearing a cap, shouts with fierce determination, "Kill them without a second thought! Don't hesitate!" He points and adds, "You guys take care of the two heading towards us." From off-panel, a voice calls, "Let me take care of the one at the back." Gon and Killua turn sharply as a large starburst announces, "They're coming!" A winged female Chimera Ant with a mask-like face flies in carrying a small, grinning, skeletal creature. The ant declares, "The battle begins!! To survive..." as Gon and Killua brace for combat, their hands clenched and faces tense.
