The Healing Thumb Chain

In a wide shot, Kurapika stands with his arm extended, the chain stretching toward Uvogin who is already partially bound on the ground. "If I chose you as my first opponent..." Uvogin adds, "On that point, you got what you wanted. One against one, that's what I wanted as well." Kurapika's face fills the next panel, eyes wide with focus as Uvogin speaks off-panel: "It was the first condition that had to be met in the choosing of my opponent. You're a reinforcement Nen user, who's extremely confident in his attack and defense strengths. You're able to stop a bazooka with only your bare hands and physical strength." Kurapika grips the chain tightly. "Why? Because the result of the fight... Will allow me to know if my Chain Jail works on all the members of the Genei Ryodan."

Kurapika extends his arm dramatically, the chain whipping forward with motion lines. "My Chain Jail..." he states. The chain wraps tightly around Uvogin, who is shown in agony with his mouth open. "Thanks to this, it deprives the muscles of their liberty!" Kurapika explains. "Plunges the captured members of the Genei Ryodan into a 'Zetsu' situation!!" Uvogin's face twists in pain as he growls, "Aghhh!!" In a close-up, Uvogin's eyes are narrowed with veins visible. "That's why I haven't been able to deploy my aura for a while..." he admits. "No... That's the reason..." Kurapika continues, "In other words, someone can only escape this chain using physical force. A Zetsu that restrains every aura projection." The chain clings visibly to Uvogin's body with onomatopoeia "cling cling" and impact marks.

Uvogin strains violently against the heavy chains wrapped around his torso, growling in fury as the links bite into his flesh. From off-panel, a voice declares that none of the members will be able to escape from the Chain Jail. Another voice challenges that if the physically strongest member of the Ryodan cannot shatter the chains, then no one can. Kurapika stands firm, gripping the chains with both hands and staring coldly ahead. A massive burst of aura erupts as Kurapika activates his technique, the panel flashing white with the words "STOPPING UP THE NEN RELEASE!!" Uvogin, sweat pouring down his face, realizes the danger: aura is the energy source of Nen, like fuel for cars, and the reinforced Zetsu is making it worse. He thinks that if the chain user blocks his aura, it will be impossible for him to develop any force. Uvogin concludes that the opponent is far from stupid.

Uvogin towers over Kurapika with arms outstretched, chains still attached, his face showing sudden shock as two exclamation marks appear beside him. In a violent motion, Uvogin swings his arm and slams Kurapika downward with tremendous force, the impact marked by large "VLAM" sound effects and motion lines. Kurapika is hurled to the ground, his body twisting from the blow. Close-up panels show Kurapika's pained expression as he gasps "ARGH..." and "GU..." while struggling to recover from the crushing strike.

Kurapika stands with his fist raised, chains wrapped tightly around the massive form of Uvogin. The blond fighter speaks calmly, noting that his force exceeds Uvogin's own. He acknowledges the value of learning that his reinforced fist can overpower the larger man's physical strength. In close-up, Kurapika's intense eyes focus as he thinks that if he can hold the enemy with his chain, he will be able to strike down every member of the Ryodan using only his hands. Uvogin, bound and furious, lunges forward with a powerful strike. The impact creates a massive BLAM as dust and debris explode outward. The clash continues with a loud CRAK as Uvogin delivers a devastating blow. He shouts DIE!!! while demanding to know where Kurapika's companions are. Kurapika remains silent. Uvogin presses further, asking what Nen types the others use. Another fierce strike lands, producing ARGGH. The scene shifts to a dark cavern entrance. Kurapika reflects that the sensation on his hand, the sounds reaching his ears, and the smell of Uvogin's blood are getting on his nerves. He thinks he is actually sick of Uvogin. Uvogin charges with a powerful swing, the chain lashing out with a loud impact. Kurapika pulls back on the chain wrapped around Uvogin's body and declares "IT'S YOUR LAST CHANCE." The chain tightens and a sharp weight pierces Uvogin's side with a "FUT!!" sound. In close-up Kurapika's face is calm as he warns: "IF YOU BREAK THAT CHAIN THAT HOLDS MY CHAIN BACK, IT WILL INSTANTLY PIERCE YOUR HEART. FROM HERE ON, YOU'RE AT MY MERCY."

A massive close-up reveals Uvogin's bare torso as the Judgement Chain wraps tightly around his heart, the black links glowing with power. Uvogin's eyes widen in shock at the sudden binding. In the next panels, Uvogin's intense glare fixes forward while Kurapika's large eye stares back with determination. From a distance, Kurapika stands on rocky ground holding the chain that stretches toward the fallen Uvogin. Uvogin, still bound, growls from below. At the bottom of the page, Uvogin's face twists in fury as he spits out his words. "If you follow it, I'll let you live a bit longer," Kurapika states. "The law is: 'Answering my questions truthfully'!!" Uvogin retorts, "Where are the others?" Then Uvogin snarls, "IDIOT. YOU KNOW WHAT YOU CAN DO WITH THAT QUESTION?"

Uvogin's face twists in rage as he yells "SHUT" with black drool dripping from his mouth. The massive muscular figure strains against the chains wrapped around his body, motion lines radiating outward from the force. A hand reaches forward gripping the chain. Below, Uvogin's body is hurled backward by a powerful impact, black silhouette shapes and the large SFX "DOM" marking the strike. Kurapika watches the result with wide eyes in one panel, then narrows them slightly in the next, her expression shifting from surprise to focused observation.

Kurapika stands alone on a rocky, windswept plain at night, speaking into a cell phone. "Okay, the father of the boss will finally arrive during the night because of weather conditions," he reports. A small "Oh!" escapes from an unseen listener. "It's me. I'll be back in about an hour," Kurapika continues as the device emits a crisp "BIP." In close-up his serious face adds, "I may have stayed too long in that state." He walks away with light footsteps marked "fiut fiut." Farther off, a bearded man lies half-buried in rubble, eyes wide, repeatedly scratching at the ground with loud "CRATCH" sounds. Later, under the stars, Kurapika watches a car parked near the cliff while the same man is hurled violently through the air amid flying debris.

In a bustling multi-level terminal filled with travelers, Gon, Killua, and Leorio discuss their next moves. Gon explains that when bounty-hunting, the most important thing is an extended, reliable network of information. Killua adds that each target is worth two billion jennies, but they must be found first. Leorio, seated at a public terminal, confirms he can find no messages in his box or on the computer. Gon wonders if there is any other way to gather billions of jennies in one shot. Leorio notes that the NFO business already cost them five million jennies. They agree that giving a reward might increase fake information, and that using their own money risks losing everything with no one providing real info. Leorio concludes they should check the southern bids on the sixth floor.

In a dimly lit room, a suited man with glasses discusses strategy with his associates. "IN EXCHANGE, WE'LL GIVE A HUGE REWARD," he states. Another voice adds, "WE COULD ONLY ASK DECISIVE INFORMATION, FOR EXAMPLE, THE PLACE WHERE THE RYODAN IS AT THE MOMENT." A third suggests, "WE COULD TIE HIM, AND MAKE HIM CONFESS WHERE THE OTHER MEMBERS ARE... THAT'S A POSSIBILITY!" and "WE STILL HAVE THREE DAYS! IF ONLY WE COULD CAPTURE ONE DURING THOSE THREE DAYS..." Nearby, a spiky-haired boy listens intently. The conversation continues with mention of an ad offering "8 MILLION FOR ANY VALUABLE INFORMATION." One man notes, "THAT'S A VERY NICE STORY, BUT WE ONLY HAVE A JEWEL WORTH THREE MILLION..." Killua turns to Gon and asks, "WHEN DID YOU BECOME SO VIOLENT, GON?" Gon reacts with surprise, "HUH?!" The suited men press further: "WHERE WOULD YOU GET THAT MUCH MONEY?!" and "WHAT?!" Gon confidently declares, "I CAN GIVE 15 MILLION!" He raises his hand high, displaying a small metallic card marked with a bold XX emblem that gleams under dramatic lighting, his expression determined.

In a ruined city at night, a bound and bloodied man sits tied to a chair with a sack over his head, his body slumped forward.
