In this chapter we see Buggy telling Shanks that Teach has supposedly never slept in his entire life already at a young age. This establishes that the sleeping anomaly existed long before Teach had either of the DF's that he currently possesses, which I speculate could mean that the reason why he was in search for the yami fruit was to allow him to exploit an abnormality that already existed within him (special constitution).
