The Impermanence of All Things

Away from the battle, a CP0 agent reports by Den Den Mushi that the target is a Navy spy from what he can gather. In the Iwato Room, he says that is not important now and that all he cares about is whether the pirates and samurai want to take Kaido down. No matter how the war ends, he says, the winner is not coming out unscathed and the survivors will be easy pickings. Elsewhere, Scratchmen Apoo approaches Drake with Numbers Inbi, Fuga, and Zanki behind him. Apoo proposes, "How 'bout it? We could team up, swoop in and steal victory at the last moment!!" Drake answers that neither of them has a horse in the race and there is no point in going at each other. Apoo says opportunities like this only come around once in a lifetime.

Drake says he is speechless and asks whether Apoo honestly thinks Drake would trust him. Apoo snaps that trust has nothing to do with it and argues the arrangement would be mutually beneficial. The scene then shifts to the stairs between the first and second floors, where allies cough through spreading smoke and fire. Someone urges Komachiyo to hang in there, while others shout that the fire is spreading fast and they need to hurry. The page moves from opportunistic scheming to the immediate survival problem inside the burning castle.

Nami, Usopp, and Tama react in alarm when a strange crawling half-body appears, with someone yelling, "Gyaaah!! A yokai!!" and "A torso-less yokai!!" The lower half calls, "Somebody help me! Poot!" Usopp realizes it is Kin'emon and asks what he is doing. The half-body insists, "This is Kin'emon!! I need to find my allies!! Poot!" Usopp protests that he is Usopp, but the lower half cannot recognize him properly. The page turns Kin'emon's survival into slapstick horror: his severed lower half has found the crew and is desperately trying to reach help.

Nami and Usopp realize Kin'emon is bleeding heavily and ask whether he is all right. Usopp notes that this half of him has no ears and cannot hear. Kin'emon finally recognizes Usopp and says the crescent mark is the mark of the rebellion. He says he has finally found one of them and has an urgent request: there is a passage on the first floor that leads to the attic of the left tower. He tells Hamlett to go with him and the others to stay with Tama. Hamlett complains that Usopp just cannot get enough of him, but Kin'emon says he is in Usopp's debt and calls him a true friend.

Kin'emon explains that Kiku is barely clinging to life and begs, "Please save her, I implore you...!!" In the attic area, Kiku lies wounded while Kin'emon's upper half thinks that he still cannot believe he survived being severed in two. He says Law-dono did not completely reattach his body before, and now he prays that Kiku will be spared. A Den Den Mushi rings, and Kin'emon recognizes Orochi's voice, noting that Orochi seems unaware of Kanjuro's demise but that he was beheaded. The page reveals that Kin'emon is trying to save Kiku while another old enemy is still moving in the shadows.

Kin'emon answers the call by pretending to be Kanjuro, saying, "I am here... Orochi-sama..." Orochi says it sounds like Kanjuro is at the brink and praises his performance as masterful, while Kanjuro's voice says he has nothing but praise for Orochi as well. Orochi asks whether Kanjuro can hear the cheers he earned and says their ancestors remain unsatisfied, demanding a stupendous encore. He tells Kanjuro to use his painting to depict the burning wrath of the Kurozumi clan, to consume everyone in the clan's vengeance, and to drag all the stragglers in the castle into the abyss of hell. Orochi ends with, "Free their souls, Kanjuro... Free us in a final blaze of glory!!"

Kanjuro accepts Orochi's request: "As you wish... Please enjoy my final show... The suicide pact of the Kurozumi clan." His last painting rises from the wreckage as a huge burning specter. People scream and warn, "Don't touch it! You'll be roasted!!" and ask what the monster is. The creature is named "Kazenbo." The page turns Kanjuro's dying grudge into a literal walking fire, a ghostly mass meant to burn the castle and everyone inside with it.

Emergency reports come in that a gigantic unidentified specter has appeared on the second floor. The burning Kazenbo pushes through walls like a ghost while the castle is choked by flames. Outside, Momonosuke struggles to produce Flame Clouds, saying all he can do is make as many tiny Flame Clouds as he can. In the Flower Capital, the Fire Festival continues peacefully, unaware of the crisis. The page intercuts the fire monster inside Onigashima, the crumbling castle, and Momo's desperate effort to slow the falling island.

People inside the castle shout, "Let's get out of here!! There's no time to fight!!" as the fire spreads. Orochi laughs, saying the Kozuki forces and the Emperors will be undone by their own hubris. He orders Kanjuro to light everything up and blow them to smithereens. Orochi also tells Fukurokuju to hurry back so they can escape, because this pirate war is no longer any of their business. The page shows Orochi trying to use Kaido's own armory and Kanjuro's final grudge to destroy both sides while he flees.

Orochi says he knows all about Kaido's massive armory in the basement, stocked with weapons Orochi provided, and tells Kanjuro to blow it all to smithereens. Yamato races through the castle in wolf form, and allies call after the "young master." Yamato says the armory is at the very bottom of the castle and that he will not make it in time unless Momonosuke slows the island down, even a little. The map of Onigashima emphasizes the depth of the basement, while Yamato barrels toward the danger below.

Yamato dashes through the chaos while the fight against Big Mom continues. Big Mom strikes with "Ikoku Sovereignty!!" and the attack tears through steel beams and wreckage, sending enemies and allies flying. People scream as the enormous slash crashes across the floor. The page cuts from Yamato's race toward the armory back to the Emperor fight, reminding us that Onigashima has multiple disasters unfolding at once: Kazenbo, the falling island, and Big Mom's raw destructive power.

Big Mom laughs and says, "Let's start with you," as she moves toward the battered Kid. Kid calls, "Hey, Trafalgar!! Can you awaken your ability?" Law answers that he is not used to it yet and will only use it if he is near death, because it burns too much energy to use in a real battle. Kid says his is the same, but they are not getting anywhere like this. Law tells him he will need to back Kid up and play that ace. The page reveals that both Law and Kid have awakened powers but consider them dangerous last resorts.

Law activates his awakened ability, creating "Kroom" around his sword and using "Anesthesia..." The blade pierces Big Mom, but Law says the incision is harmless; Kroom influences the body in other ways. Big Mom is confused as the sword goes through her, and Kid watches for the opening. The attack hurts Big Mom internally, setting up the next strike. The page shows Law turning his usual Room-based powers inward and weaponizing them in a form that can actually affect an Emperor's body.

Law follows with "Shock... Wille!!" The translator note says the kanji reads "Wille," German for will. Big Mom bleeds and screams, while Kid calls her a "widdle brat" and says she could use more magnetism. He uses "Assign!!" and Big Mom suddenly sticks to metal, crying that weapons are being drawn in and that it is as if she has become a magnet. Law warns as the steel beams from the tower are ripped out, and Kid finishes with "Punk... Crash!!" The awakened powers combine to slam Big Mom beneath a wave of metal, ending the chapter on the caption "Awakened power!!"
