QUEEN

The Queen towers in a powerful stance, her massive insectoid body covered in wounds and dripping fluids. Her clawed hands grip broken structures as she looms over debris. Sound effects *SURU* repeat around her. A large speech bubble proclaims, "I MUST GIVE BIRTH TO THE KING!" The bold title "HUNTER×HUNTER No.186: QUEEN" dominates the lower half of the panel. Below, a close-up shows the Queen's face and upper body with the statements "THE QUEEN!" and "I AM ..." The Queen asserts her identity and purpose with fierce determination.

In a rocky, debris-strewn landscape filled with small fish swimming through shallow water, a dark silhouette sits amid scattered rocks as impact sounds echo. A monstrous fish-like creature with a gaping maw and armored head lunges forward, devouring smaller fish in rapid bites. Internal monologue panels reveal the creature's thoughts: it must let its body recover a little but cannot move yet and must not be hasty. It complains that no matter how many of these things it eats it will never be enough. The creature declares it must find even bigger prey, first recovering its energy and then starting to plan.

A reptilian bird-like creature perches on a tree branch overlooking a forested area. In a rocky clearing, a spiky-haired boy speaks with a long-haired person wearing a hat and carrying a bag. The long-haired person mentions keeping something in a safety deposit box in the bank in Yorkshin and asks where they are right now. The spiky-haired boy confirms he left Gin's license with the long-haired person. A map of the continents is displayed, labeling Yorkshin on the Yorbian continent, Kakin on the Asian continent, and noting the current location in the middle of the Asian continent.

Kaito leans in close and says, "I'LL LET YOU KEEP IT." He adds with a resigned tone, "OH WELL THAT'S FINE I GUESS, EVEN THOUGH THAT IS SUPPOSED TO BE MINE TO PROTECT." Gon smiles brightly and replies, "OKAY!" Kaito continues, "YOU CAN RETURN IT. RETURN IT TO GIN FOR ME THOUGH HE SAID THAT HE DOESN'T NEED IT." In the forest clearing Kaito carries a large basket of plants while explaining, "THE GOVERNMENT OF KAKIN REQUESTED ME TO CONDUCT SOME RESEARCH ON LIFE FORMS. TO DISCOVER NEW SPECIES AND STUDY THEIR BEHAVIOR IS MY PRIMARY JOB." He turns and asks, "BY THE WAY WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE KAITO?" A girl with a basket answers enthusiastically, "YES!!" Nearby rabbits stand upright as someone remarks, "US? YOU MEAN..." Another voice notes, "OTHER THAN US, IT LOOKS LIKE THERE ARE A FEW OTHER GROUPS THAT ARE INVESTIGATING THE CHANGES IN THIS AREA (INCREASE/DECREASE OF POPULATION ETC." The girl offers, "DO YOU WANT TO SEE SOME RECORDED FOOTAGE OF ANIMALS LATER? I'VE DISCOVERED SOME RARE SPECIES." At the campfire Gon and Killua react as figures approach; someone says, "SPEAK OF THE DEVIL." Killua mutters, "AH" while Kaito states, "EVEN THOUGH THEY AREN'T PROFESSIONAL HUNTERS EVERY ONE OF THEM IS AN EXCELLENT HUNTER." He points and adds, "YEAH, THERE ARE SEVEN PEOPLE IN MY TEAM. WHEN THEY RETURN I'LL INTRODUCE THEM TO YOU."

A large bear-like man with a massive backpack stands among the group and says, "WE'RE BACK... UM?" An afro-haired boy asks, "WHO ARE THOSE TWO KIDS?" In the lower panels Gon greets the newcomers while the long-haired girl in the cap introduces herself: "MY NAME IS SPIN." She continues, "GON FREECSS, NICE TO MEET YOU SPIN." Spin replies, "YOU CAN CALL ME SPIN. NICE TO MEET YOU." Another voice exclaims, "WHOA, PURPOSELY COMING TO AN UNINHABITED PLACE LIKE THIS, WELCOME!" Spin explains, "THEY'RE MY FRIENDS. THEY DECIDED TO TAKE A SMALL DETOUR AND VISIT ME." The girl points forward as the team gathers in the background.

A tall figure in a cloak stands with their back turned as a young boy with spiky hair and a girl in a beret look on. The girl points and says, "Gin’s son. That’s right." The boy adds, "Freecs…? That means he is…" In the next panels a large bear-like man with a small child on his shoulder apologizes, "That… I apologize if I’m mistaken…" while another voice exclaims, "Zaoldyeck…!?" Killua, covered in leaves and dirt, stands up and declares, "You too!? Are you serious!?" He continues, "No, I’m not. My name is Killua Zaoldyeck. Nice to meet you." The bear-like man replies, "That was my old profession. Yes." Someone notes, "Isn’t that the famous assassin family’s…?" In a wide panel the group reacts with shock as an unseen speaker says, "That is to say, they’re your ‘senpai’. While we’re at it, let me tell you that they’re both professional hunters." The bottom panel shows the spiky-haired boy, Gon, Killua, the bear-like man, the girl, and others staring in surprise as a loud "DOHIEEE" sound effect erupts.

The bear-like man introduces himself with a wink, "My name is Monta Lilius. Everyone calls me Mon." He adds, "We didn’t introduce everyone to you yet." In a dark forest panel silhouettes of the group sit around a fire while someone laughs, "Haha, that’s right. We’ve been here for nearly 3 years, but I feel you both are the most amazing creatures we’ve met ever." A boy with spiky hair smiles and says, "Do you know why? Because my last name is spelt as dinner! Hahaha! My name is Stick Dinner, I’m in charge of dinner." A girl with glasses bows slightly, "I, I, I am Lin Kouishi. H… h… hi." A girl with a headband smiles, "Nice to meet you. My name is Podongo Rapoi." A boy with light hair waves, "My name is Banana Kavaro. Hi." In the final panel a steaming pot and bowls of food are shown as someone asks, "We finished earlier than expected, eh? What should we do now? We’ve got some very good footage of it! We’re basically done. Oh yeah! How’s the job coming along?"

The group sits together reviewing their progress. Gon and Killua discuss their contract with Kakin Country, noting it still has a month left. Biscuit suggests they have already found enough species and could double the reward by locating seven more. They decide to search for smaller animals next. Everyone agrees enthusiastically. A large speech bubble asks if they want to find new species. The woman with the camera explains that new footage is automatically checked against the database and that using the digital camera makes identifying species easy. At the bottom of the page, someone calls out as the group learns Kaito has recorded only 68 species while Lin has discovered over 1000 in three years.

The conversation continues as the group debates the camping tiger. Gon describes how the tiger uses lightning to ignite a log and cook its own food. Killua questions whether such a creature could be real. The cloaked figure confirms it is their best find so far and notes that even Kite loses to their specialty in discovering tiny insects. They decide to stay another night because more nocturnal animals appear after dark. On the laptop screen the camping tiger is shown inside a cave cooking meat over a fire. A translator's note appears at the bottom of the panel.

A large spotted insect with prominent horns and an 8-shaped marking on its back clings to a branch amid dense foliage. Nearby, a small device clicks shut over a captured specimen. Gon stares at his recorder in frustration. "DAMMIT, IT'S ALREADY BEEN RECORDED! UM..." In the forest clearing, Biscuit in adult form stands with hands on hips while another figure crouches nearby. Speech bubbles convey their thoughts: "IT'S SKILL! That's what they always say, Bisky..." "EVEN THOUGH THEY'RE ALSO USING INSTINCT AND LUCK" "THEY'RE CONTINUOUSLY FINDING NEW SPECIES, AND RARE ONES AT THAT." "THOSE TWO ARE REALLY AMAZING."

Close-ups show Killua's focused face and Gon's intense gaze. Gon crouches and points at a small turtle-like creature on the ground while Killua stands beside him. Silhouettes of Gon and Killua float against a blank background. Biscuit in adult form with wide hat speaks from the foreground: "BUT GON AND KILLUA ARE BECOMING ONE WITH NATURE, USING ALL 5 SENSES TO LOOK FOR THEM. THEIR LEVEL OF CONCENTRATION IS DIFFERENT." A close-up shows Biscuit in adult form, her face partially shadowed under a wide hat, eyes narrowed as she speaks. "GON IS A SPECIAL KID," one bubble reads. "THEY'RE GONNA FIND YOU SOON, GIN," says the other. Below, two narration boxes state: "HE HAS EVEN ... GOT HIMSELF AN AMAZING PARTNER." and "AN OUTSTANDING HUNTER ... WHOM THE ANIMALS LOVE." In the large lower panel, Biscuit stands in the foreground with one hand raised to her forehead, watching intently. In the distance, Gon and Killua run side by side across open ground, their backs to her as they move away.

A large fish is yanked upward by a massive curved hook piercing its mouth. Below, a pile of dead fish lies in shallow water with sound effects *DASYA* *PITYA*. A horned, armored creature crouches on rocks, gripping a fish while another small fish leaps nearby; *BITCH* marks the action. To the left, bats fly with *PORI* *GLUTYU* *PORI* sounds as a small round creature reacts. The horned creature stands holding fish, water dripping from its body. Lower panels show a bat in flight, then a close-up of the creature's face with wide eyes, followed by motion lines and a final close-up of its face looking upward.

The massive, grotesque Chimera Ant Queen fills the panel, her segmented body and dripping mandibles dominating the frame as she tears into her meal with a loud *PAKAA*. Smaller inset panels capture the frantic struggle of a bat-winged creature being devoured, its mouth open in a *GITO* *GITO* cry while another close-up shows the Queen's unblinking eye and a weak *KU...* from the prey. Two large oval thought bubbles repeat the same judgment: "TOO LITTLE." Sound effects *GUTYU* *GUTYU* and *ZUSUU* mark the unsatisfying swallow. In a stark silhouette the Queen hunches forward, saliva dripping, as bold text declares "BIGGER PREY TO EAT. NEED MORE." A final caption emphasizes the stakes: "For this dangerous mission, bigger sacrifices are needed!!"
