Key facts in this chapter
Five names are displayed at the top of the page. The scene takes place in a rocky, barren landscape. Tsezugera’s group has been absent for ten days. Three weeks remain as a time limit for the current task.
Gon is practicing emission timing. The target accuracy is zero point zero one seconds. An opponent has activated contact on Gon. A suitcase lies open on the ground near the characters.
Tsezugera and companions have been absent nearly 240 hours. Gensuru's group waits at the entrance. No messengers sent to locate the missing have returned. The man retains possession of all important cards.
The missing group departed exactly ten days ago at 3:05. The team has operated together for twenty years. The bespectacled man has researched their history. Ambush tactic is believed to have failed.
The group obtained 96 different card types before fleeing Sightvision was used to inspect cards prior to the attack Battera dismissed all his bodyguards and soldiers Tsezugera's mission was called off for unknown reasons
The Accompany card (1039 F-130) allows travel to a previously visited city or encountered player within 20m radius The group decides to deviate from the original plan to obtain coastline They plan to travel to Masadora using the card
Tsezugera admits the 96 cards carried by the group were mostly decoys from the fake spell. Tsezugera is actually holding the real 96 card types including Exchange Ticket and Blue Planet. Tsezugera refuses to help fight Gensuru directly. Gon asks Tsezugera to retrieve the promised card later. Tsezugera notes the huge risk he is taking. Gon and Killua prepare to confront Gensuru. A distant figure is shown watching from a hill. The group is declared to be moving.
A black panel lists the names Shashana, Tsezugera, Boutu, Bali, and Dobu. Gon and Killua peer over a book with wide eyes. Biscuit stands in profile and asks what could have happened, noting there are only five more days until the three-week limit is up. Tsezugera stands alone in the rocky wasteland, eyes closed, and remarks that it is the tenth day since his group left the game. Killua wonders what will happen if they do not return soon, warning that all the collected cards will disappear. Biscuit and another figure wait in the distance while Tsezugera remains motionless. In the foreground Tsezugera opens his eyes slightly as a small “click” sound effect appears near his hand. The page ends with the chapter title “No.174 ◆Attack of Three Part 5.”

Gon excitedly asks if he can practice emission now, declaring his timing one hundred percent accurate. Biscuit and Killua watch from the side; Killua points out Gon is still zero point one seconds off. Biscuit raises a finger and states the goal is zero point zero one seconds accuracy, then shouts for them to begin. A “click” sound effect is heard as Killua operates a stopwatch. In the distance Gon stands ready while Biscuit calls out that another player is using “contact” on him. Gon turns with a serious expression, his face shown in close-up against a black background. The final panel shows Gon and Killua running toward an open suitcase lying on the ground.

Against a black background, a large circular panel shows a stilted wooden building rising from calm water under a pale sky, with several small figures standing at its base. A jagged speech bubble states, 'YEA.' Another bubble declares, 'YOU KNOW THAT TSEZUGERA AND THE OTHERS HAVE BEEN GONE FOR ALMOST 240 HOURS NOW?' In the panels below, a spiky-haired boy leans forward and asks, 'WHY?' A stern dark-haired man replies, 'I'LL MAKE IT CLEAR, TSEZUGERA WON'T BE COMING BACK.' Nearby, a man peers through a large telescope mounted on a tripod while holding open cards marked with symbols. The spiky-haired boy questions, 'GENSURU'S GROUP IS WAITING FOR THEM AT THE ENTRANCE.' The dark-haired man answers, 'THAT EXPLAINS IT.' The boy presses, 'BUT WON'T THEIR CARDS DISAPPEAR?' The man continues, 'EVER SINCE THEY LEFT THE GAME, NONE OF THE MESSENGERS I SENT OUT TO FIND THEM HAVE COME BACK.' Another panel shows the boy asking, 'BUT DOESN'T THAT GIVE YOU AWAY AS THEIR PARTNER? GENSURU WILL BE USING 'SIGHTVISION' TO CHECK THE NUMBER OF CARDS! ISN'T IT EXTREMELY DANGEROUS FOR THE IMPORTANT CARDS TO LEAVE THEIR POSSESSION?' The man concludes, 'I'M HOLDING ALL OF THE IMPORTANT CARDS. THEY'RE ALL WAITING FOR MY SIGNAL TO SAY 'EVERYTHING IS SAFE. IT'S OKAY TO RETURN.' TSEZUGERA DOESN'T KNOW THIS, BUT THEY'VE ALREADY DECIDED NOT TO RETURN.'

A tall panel depicts the stilt house from a distance under a cloudy sky, with the spiky-haired boy standing in the foreground facing two figures near the entrance. A jagged bubble reads, 'THAT'S RIGHT. THERE'S NO MISTAKE ABOUT IT.' Another states, 'THEY LEFT 10 DAYS AGO AT EXACTLY 3:05.' The boy remarks, 'WHAT A PATHETIC DEPARTURE.' A close-up shows him adding, 'ANOTHER 5 MINUTES, AND ALL THEIR CARDS WILL DISAPPEAR.' In a dark panel a bespectacled man with slicked-back hair says, 'IF THEY DON'T APPEAR BY THAT TIME, THEN THEY'VE GIVEN UP.' He continues, 'JUST TO BE SAFE, WE'LL WAIT UNTIL 3:10.' The bespectacled man reflects, 'AFTER COMING TO GREED ISLAND, THEY HAVEN'T CHANGED ANYTHING.' A woman with a star-shaped mark on her forehead stands with arms crossed and asks, 'DO YOU REALLY THINK THEY ALL LEFT?' The man replies, 'THERE'S NO MISTAKE. THEY'VE BEEN A TEAM OF 4 FOR 20 YEARS. I'VE ALREADY RESEARCHED THIS.' He concludes, 'THEY'VE PROBABLY RUN TO BATTERA TO REPORT OUR ACTIONS AND DENY US OUR SHARE OF THE REWARD. IT'S MOST LIKELY BECAUSE THEIR AMBUSH TACTIC FAILED.'
Between the four of them they had 96 card types. They used "SIGHTVISION" to check their cards before their attack. The fact is they ran away after collecting 96 card types. But we're just speculating, talking doesn't do us any good. But... I'm bothered that Battera fired all his bodyguards and soldiers. So I don't know the reason but something must have happened! What bothers me is that he would call off Tsezugera's mission. Hmph. Well... good bye Tsezugera! Time's up.

This is different from the original plan, but we'll just take "one" yard of coastline from them! It's finally the turn of those kids. OK, we need some copies of "ACCOMPANY". Let's go to Masadora first. The card shows a flying figure surrounded by fish with the description: This card will take the user and anyone within a 20m radius to a desired city (it must be a city you have already visited) or to a desired player (it must be a player you've already encountered). A bright flash erupts with heavy motion lines as the card activates.

A close-up reveals Tsezugera's intense expression as he explains the situation. "OUT OF THE 96 CARDS THEY WERE CARRYING SO WERE DECOYS MADE FROM THE 'FAKE' SPELL." "IT'S 'FAKE'." In the next panels, Tsezugera continues in profile: "I'M SORRY, BUT I WON'T BE OF ANY HELP WHEN YOU FIGHT GENSURU. THAT IS THE WAY I WANTED TO HELP HIM. I ALSO HAVE 'EXCHANGE TICKET' AND 'BLUE PLANET' THAT'S JUST WAITING FOR GAIN. IN REALITY I'M THE ONE HOLDING 96 CARD TYPES." A small figure sits on a distant hill with a staff. Gon looks up with wide eyes and asks, "WILL YOU COME TO PICK UP THE PROMISED CARD?" Tsezugera replies, "I UNDERSTAND." Killua stands beside Gon. Tsezugera adds, "FOR THE PRUDENT TSEZUGERA THIS IS TAKING A HUGE RISK." Gon and Killua exchange glances. Tsezugera says, "GOOD LUCK! I'LL WAIT UNTIL YOU'VE BEATEN GENSURU." The final wide panel shows a circular view of a distant building on water with the exclamation, "THEY'RE MOVING!!"

Gensuru, wearing sunglasses, speaks to an unseen person: "ARE YOU PREPARED? HOW IS YOUR HAND?" The reply comes, "AS SOON AS THEY'RE READY, THEY'LL HEAD TOWARD YOU GUYS." "THAT'S NOT THE RIGHT DIRECTION. I GUESS THEY'RE GOING TO MASADORA." "WHERE ARE YOU RIGHT NOW?" "WE'RE AT THE ROCK FORMATIONS NEAR SOLIFEIRABI." "THEY MUST NEED MORE SPELL CARDS." Killua answers, "ALL THANKS TO YOU GUYS!" and the other voice says, "NO PROBLEM." In a dark panel, Gon stands with Biscuit and another girl holding cards. Biscuit calls out, "GON!" A hand points upward while someone asks, "WHERE'S THE STOPWATCH?" The speaker continues, "I HOPE YOU WEREN'T DISTRACTED BY WHAT YOU JUST HEARD?" Narration states, "THERE WASN'T ENOUGH TIME, BUT THERE'S NO TURNING BACK NOW. IT ALL DEPENDS ON GON..."

Gon holds a small stopwatch in his right hand against a black background, pressing the button with a focused expression. In the next panel he lowers the device slightly, his face showing concentration. A close-up reveals the timer display reading 00:01:00:00 as a large hand activates it. Gon then appears with a satisfied smile, declaring the result. Beside him, Biscuit turns with a bright, approving grin. The final wide panel shows only empty sky and clouds, marking a quiet transition.

A high-angle view shows a wide city street lined with tall buildings, parked cars, and pedestrians. Below, a crowded sidewalk features several young people and adults standing near a building entrance marked 'OVER'. Inside a long hallway, two large speech bubbles appear: one demanding 'YOUR REASONS.' and another pleading 'PLEASE TELL ME...'. The final panel depicts an interior room where an elderly man sits centrally on a couch facing four seated figures, including a boy with spiky hair and several adults in casual clothing, all gathered in a tense circle.

A stern bearded man with a facial scar stares intently forward. Beside him, an elderly man with deep wrinkles and a worried expression reacts with wide eyes. The bearded man holds up a small framed photograph and declares, "BUT JUST NOW I SAW THIS PICTURE." He adds, "I MAY BE WRONG..." The elderly man's face twists in shock, sweat flying as he leans forward. A large ornate frame decorated with roses comes into view, revealing a portrait of a smiling woman with long hair. The elderly man sits across from the bearded man at a table, both now looking at the portrait. A close-up shows the bearded man's intense gaze as he asks, "DOES IT HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH THIS WOMAN?"

In an ornate room with a chandelier, the bearded man stands before a large framed portrait on the wall. A voice asks, "IS SHE YOUR DAUGHTER..." Another replies, "NO, YOUR GRAND-DAUGHTER?" The bearded man responds firmly, "I CANNOT ACCEPT THINGS AS THEY STAND." He pleads, "PLEASE... TELL US WHY!" A massive close-up reveals the elderly man's gritted teeth and furious expression as he utters, "MY LOVER." In a separate panel, the elderly man sits with clenched fists, stating, "UNAWARE OF THE WORLD AROUND HER." A spiky-haired man leans in and adds, "SHE'S BEEN IN THE HOSPITAL FOR A LONG TIME..."

An elderly man with a stern, lined face speaks in a low voice. "She died in her sleep. Several days ago..." Close-up panels show the shocked reactions of listeners: a wide-eyed young man with freckles, another with an open mouth, and a grim-faced man with dark hair. The elderly man continues, explaining that instead of accepting expensive gifts he sent, she only kept the crude presents he made himself. "All the expensive gifts I sent her, she returned to me. As the materialistic type." A young woman with long hair walks barefoot through bushes in a simple striped dress, glancing back with a faint smile. "I guess she didn't want to be seen..." Below, a bearded man in a high-collared robe sits with a serious expression, his hand resting on a log. Narration continues: "We had decided to leave it all behind, and start a new life together. We didn't need anything except each other."

The elderly man continues his story in anguish. "She really..." A black ink-splattered panel reads "A twist of fate..." He adds that she was left in a sleep she might never awake from. A large close-up shows his tear-streaked face twisted in grief. "She really looked like she was only sleeping..." His hands clench tightly around fabric. "But all the hospitals could do was keep her alive, they couldn't revive her. I tried everything..."

An elderly man with white hair and a lined face speaks in a series of panels. "I HEARD THE NEWS ABOUT GREED ISLAND," he says. "THAT WAS THE TIME..." Large stylized letters "GT" dominate the dark background. He continues, "OF COURSE, INFORMATION IS NOT ENOUGH TO CHANGE REALITY. I TRIED TO GATHER INFORMATION IN ANY WAY I COULD. SPELLS THAT COULD CURE ANY DISEASE... THAT COULD RETURN YOUR YOUTH... EVERYTHING I WANTED." In a close-up, his eyes half-closed, he adds, "IT DOESN'T MATTER NOW. BUT..." His hands are clasped as he finishes, "ITEMS FROM A DREAM, AND ALL YOU HAD TO DO WAS COMPLETE A VIDEO GAME...." A final isolated panel reads, "IT DOESN'T MATTER AT ALL...."
