Chapter 103

The man in the suit and sunglasses leans forward with a grin and asks, "ARE YOU SURE YOU'RE REALLY THEIR FRIEND?" He continues, "DO YOU REALIZE THAT IF WE SPLIT THE MONEY 50-50, WE WOULD HAVE 177 MILLION EACH?!" Another panel shows him saying, "WHATEVER THE PRICE, YOU WOULDN'T BE SATISFIED—ADMIT IT!" and "YOU'RE TOO SERIOUS..." while noting, "IF WE COULD HAVE STARTED THE SALE WHEN THE TENSION WAS AT ITS MAXIMUM, WE COULD HAVE GONE PAST 400 MILLION!" The bald man replies, "IT WOULD BE A PITY." The suited man adds, "IF WE STAY WITH THEM, WE'RE ALMOST SURE TO FIND LOTS OF INTERESTING THINGS. AND I'M SURE YOU'RE AWARE OF THAT." He also says, "EXPERIENCES THAT MONEY CAN'T BUY." Later, the suited man answers a phone call with "HELLO?" and "YEP!" while the bald man says "HUH?" In the final panel, the suited man's eyes widen in shock as he shouts into the phone, "KURA-PIKA !?"

A figure with long straight hair bursts forward dramatically, right hand extended palm-out toward the viewer as if reaching through a shattered barrier. Sharp black speed lines radiate outward from the center, emphasizing explosive motion and power. The character wears a loose flowing garment and appears to be materializing or breaking through space itself. At the bottom of the page, a text block labels the figure as Kurotopi and explains his Materialization Nen ability in detail.

The grand entrance of a large ornate building is shown with people standing on the steps and balconies. Four close-up portraits appear in a row: Gon smiling, Kurapika with a neutral expression, Leorio grinning confidently, and Killua looking forward. Kurapika tells Gon "WHAT I SAY WON'T HELP," explaining that he believes Gon wants to capture the rest of the Genei Ryodan and therefore will not answer. Gon insists it is not the only thing. From behind, someone says "THAT'S WHAT I THOUGHT. FORGET IT. BUT WHY?" Kurapika turns and states that above all, mastering Nen is top priority. Gon agrees they want to capture the rest of the Ryodan and increase their Nen as well.

Kurapika walks ahead down a long corridor with Gon, Killua, and Leorio following behind him. An exclamation mark appears as they proceed. In close-up, Kurapika explains that he cannot use his Nen as he wants because it is more effective against the Ryodan this way. Outside, a large building is shown under a cloudy sky with rumbling sound effects "Brrr" and Japanese SFX. Inside a furnished room, Leorio sits and confirms "YES." The group discusses the condition and the pledge, with Gon and Killua seated on a couch while Kurapika stands nearby. Leorio affirms the condition and the pledge as the key points of their agreement.

Kurapika stands before Gon, Killua, and Leorio, his chained hands raised as he explains the nature of his power. "Nen is a force very influenced by the psyche," he states. The weight of the determination increases the power, but it also includes a high risk. With that aim, he had to have guidelines. He promised to use his Nen almost entirely against the Spiders. If he confronts someone who isn't related to the Ryodan with his chain, he loses his life. Gon reacts with shock, eyes wide and mouth open, while Kurapika's serious gaze remains fixed ahead.

Kurapika continues, his chained hands shown in close-up as he declares that his force only affects the Spiders because his Nen is produced from his hatred. He reveals he has a Nen blade permanently pointed at his heart. The only reason he can talk about it is because it's Gon. In a flashback-like scene inside a room, Leorio, Gon, and Killua react with alarm as Kurapika's voice echoes that something this important shouldn't leave the room. Kurapika stares ahead with a distant expression, reflecting that maybe because their leader is no longer alive he felt reassured, wondering why he told the others. In a smaller panel Killua stands with his back partly turned, murmuring Kurapika’s name. Kurapika’s close-up shows him replying that it is true. Gon appears next, declaring there are some left and that it sucks. The scene shifts to a tense exchange where Kurapika warns that even if they refuse to talk it will not stop her from discovering what she wants to know. Leorio adds that she only needs to touch her target to get the information she wants. Killua realizes she can read people’s minds and that one of them is able to do so. Kurapika concludes that they would not stand a chance of winning anymore if she discovers their secret.

Killua and Gon protest that the situation has changed because the chain user Kurapika is now known to the girl. Leorio, wearing sunglasses, reassures them that she already checked once and found nothing, so it is okay. Killua stands with his back to the others, confirming they are talking about that girl. Leorio continues that the man also ignores the fact that Leorio may be connected to Kurapika. Killua notes the man is still searching for Kurapika and after them. Kurapika’s eyes widen as he realizes the man knows he is the chain guy. Leorio adds that he is in contact with Hisoka. Kurapika’s shocked face fills the final panel.

Kurapika stands in profile with a visible sweat drop, reflecting on the situation. "NOW THAT HIS TARGET IS DEAD, I DON'T KNOW WHAT ATTITUDE HE'LL HAVE," he says. "WE CAME TO AN AGREEMENT, BUT..." Close-up panels show Gon with a serious expression, Killua looking determined, Kurapika with a thoughtful gaze, and Leorio frowning behind his glasses. "BUT NOW, KURAPIKA IS HERE," notes Killua. "IF NOBUNAGA CATCHES GON AND I AGAIN, WE WON'T BE ABLE TO ESCAPE A SECOND TIME," he warns. Kurapika leans forward with resolve. "LET'S MAKE THE FIRST MOVE," he urges. "BEFORE THEY GATHER THEIR FORCES AND COME OUT OF THE SHADOWS..." A final close-up shows Killua's intense stare.

Killua continues the discussion with urgency. "IF WE MOVE, IT NEEDS TO BE NOW," he insists. "THE MORE TIME PASSES, THE MORE THE PROBABILITY OF THAT HAPPENING INCREASES," he adds. "OF COURSE, THEY MAY HAVE LEFT ALREADY," notes another. "PLUS, WE KNOW WHERE THEIR LAIR IS," Killua concludes. A small panel shows a character with a sweat drop reacting. In the next sequence, Killua leans in close while speaking intensely to the group. Gon appears in the background watching. Killua then stands up abruptly, hand near his face in a decisive gesture. The final large panel features Killua with dramatically spiky hair and a fierce expression. "CAPTURE THE RYODAN AND COLLECT THE REWARDS....!!" he declares. "IT'S THE ONLY REMAINING POSSIBILITY...," he states firmly. Smaller panels show Gon looking surprised and Leorio reacting with a hand near his mouth.
