The Hunt

Gon and Killua discuss unusual creatures in the forest. Gon exclaims, "A tiger that uses fire. When lightning hits a log and ignites it, it uses the log as a source fire." Killua asks, "What is the camping tiger?" A hooded figure replies, "The camping tiger is probably our best find yet." Another voice adds, "My specialty is large wildlife. I hate discovering these tiny insect-things." Gon continues, "A creature that doesn't eat raw meat, but actually cooks for itself!" The hooded figure notes, "Even though it's a magical beast, it's not something that a two-legged creature could have first noticed." In a smaller panel, someone says, "Even when we play, Janken, Kaito always loses." The group decides, "We'll stay up at night because there are more nocturnal animals around here." "Let's take today off." "Hey, so what are we going to investigate today?" "Do you want to see it?" "We recorded some footage of the tiger cooking in a cave." Later, Gon and Killua examine a laptop showing a creature. A note reads, "[PODONGO]:They usually use the horn." Killua sighs, "*sigh*". The final panel shows a dark silhouette of trees against the night.

Inside a wooden building, Gon and Killua stand before computer monitors while an NGL staff member works at a desk. A bald man with a long goatee in traditional robes turns toward them and gestures welcomingly. "Welcome to the NGL Free State," he says. "Thank you for being so cooperative! Please come this way." Outside, the group stands on a vast grassy plain under a cloudy sky with distant mountains. "Let's get started then," someone declares as a powerful "HYUUUUU" wind gust sweeps across the landscape. A lone horse stands atop a rocky outcrop while four small figures wait below. At the horse rental station, a smiling woman with short hair explains the rules beside a wooden sign. "Welcome! The rental charge per horse is 12,000 jeniis a day," she announces. The sign reads "Rental 1 day 12,000 jeniis." She adds, "If any accidents occur that render the horse unable to move again, the penalty is 5,000,000 jeniis."

Chapter title page displays "No.190 THE HUNT". In a rocky clearing, Biscuit kneels and examines a large striped insect marked with a cross and the words "THE DANGER ZONE NGL!!!" She holds a tiny winged creature in her other hand. "It's no use. No one picked up the message," a voice states. "Ooh," Biscuit reacts. Gon, Killua, and others react with shock. "Yeah! Yeah!" Gon exclaims. They decide, "Then let's retreat..." and note that the five hunters in contact appear to have been annihilated. Biscuit suggests, "Let's leave the NGL first. We can then inform the outside world about this situation, and an official extermination squad can then be formed to take care of this problem." Killua adds, "We can't deal with those creatures by ourselves."

In a rocky clearing surrounded by trees, a massive insectoid Chimera Ant looms behind a seated Gon, who stares forward with wide eyes and an open mouth in shock. Killua stands to the right with arms crossed, scowling as he declares, "WHATEVER, LET'S GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE!!" Debris and motion lines suggest a recent powerful impact. Below, smaller panels show close-ups of alarmed faces including a wide-eyed girl and a sweating man, followed by a chaotic sequence of a ladybug-patterned Chimera Ant delivering a heavy strike with SFX "Rolling" and "Powerful blow". The ant then looms over a bloodied figure on the ground, stating, "AT THIS RATE WE'LL ALL ..."

Gon appears in close-up with a terrified expression, sweat flying as he yells "THEY ... THEY'RE HERE!!" In the next panel Killua sprints through the forest carrying the large Chimera Ant on his back while a small helmeted figure watches from the trees. SFX "stopping" marks the halt. Below, a frantic character in a striped hat screams "UAAAAA!!" with arms raised in panic as motion lines radiate outward. The ladybug-patterned Chimera Ant tumbles through the air in the foreground with a dazed expression.

A powerful ranged technique activates with dramatic flair. A hand extends forward, index and pinky fingers raised, as a massive arrow-shaped aura labeled RAINBOW!! streaks across the panel. The technique is clarified as RED BOW!! when the archer draws and fires multiple glowing red arrows in rapid succession. The arrows fly straight into a massive insectoid creature below, striking its body with explosive force and sending debris flying. Impact lines and shattering effects emphasize the arrows' piercing power.

The red arrows strike true, causing a massive explosion that hurls the creature backward in a cloud of smoke and debris. Nearby, three figures react with alarm: a tall man, a small girl in a cap, and a headband-wearing fighter. The headband fighter shouts that the creature's allies are coming and orders everyone to run. A second panel shows a close-up of the dying insect letting out a long, high-pitched dying scream. Below, a second massive insectoid creature charges forward across rocky terrain, its limbs extended and body low to the ground, accompanied by menacing sound effects.

The girl in the striped hat stares in horror at the spider-like being and cries out, "A HUMAN FACE!!?" A shaky "HU..." escapes her lips. The spiky-haired boy beside her shouts urgently, "QUICK, SHOOT IT!!" and "SHOOT IT!!!" The striped-hat archer leaps forward, bow drawn, and releases an arrow that streaks across the desert with a loud "DOHYUU". The projectile slams into the prone spider creature. Narration states that the fastest arrow of all the seven colored arrows, the orange, was stopped so easily. With a resounding "BASH!" the spider creature's clawed hand smashes upward, halting the attack inches from her face.

The massive spider chimera ant towers over the striped-hat archer, declaring, "AND, THE LOWLY GRUNTS CANNOT EVEN SEE THIS." She adds, "HUH ... I CAN SEE IT QUITE CLEARLY." The striped-hat archer remains crouched in the cracked earth as the creature continues, "YOU MIGHT MAKE THE MOST NUTRITIOUS MEAL THE QUEEN HAS HAD SO FAR ..." and explains, "SO, THE 'ENERGY' THAT CREATES THIS WEAPON COMES FROM THE 'LIFE-ENERGY' INSIDE YOUR BODY ..." The archer suddenly reacts with surprise as the spider chimera ant lunges forward in a blur of motion.

A fierce battle erupts as a massive spider-like Chimera Ant lunges forward with a long spear-like appendage. The bandaged fighter is struck hard, his body twisting from the impact as motion lines and impact shapes fill the panel. Nearby, a young girl with pigtails and a headband leaps back in surprise while a spiky-haired boy is knocked down. SFX mark the surprise attack and quick movements. The spider creature shouts "GOOH!" as it presses the assault. In the next sequence, a dark-haired fighter named Cyan is grabbed mid-air, the creature's limbs wrapping around him. A close-up shows a skull-faced soldier biting violently into the spiky-haired boy's head with a loud "BA GUN" sound, blood and impact effects exploding outward. The boy screams "BALDA!" as the brutal bite lands. Multiple limbs flail in the chaos while the spider creature looms over its prey.

Zazan continues its rampage, riding atop a soldier while laughing "HA!". A young fighter in a striped beanie stares in shock, eyes wide. An older soldier with glasses panics, shouting that soldiers are not meant to eat the Queen's food and that Zazan-sama is getting mad again. Another soldier admits he started eating reflexively. The beanie-wearing fighter draws a bow and fires an arrow directly at Zazan, yelling "YOU BASTARD!!". The arrow flies with a sharp SFX, striking Zazan in the head with a loud "BASH" and "BOHYUN" impact. Zazan reels backward from the hit, its body twisting under the force of the arrow shot.

The bandaged fighter struggles as the scissor-wielding Chimera Ant pins him down. "HEY, HANG ON, STOP!" he yells while the creature taunts with "WHOOPS" and "MY HANDS AREN'T FREE!" A heavy punch lands with a *punch* SFX. In the next exchange the fighter shouts "DODGE THIS!!" and drives his weapon forward, stabbing the ant with a sharp *stab*. The impact sends the fighter reeling backward in a massive "DOSU" strike, his body twisting from the force as he points desperately with one hand.

Zazan stands with arms crossed as her long segmented tail drops something in the background. Pike stares with a sudden glazed look. Zazan speaks: "WHY DIDN'T YOU JUST DROP WHAT YOU HAD IN YOUR HANDS." and "AS ALWAYS, YOUR FIGHTING TECHNIQUE IS POOR, ZAZAN-DONO!" A small ant soldier praises her: "A GREAT ACHIEVEMENT, PIKE." Zazan replies "THIS LOOKS LIKE IT'LL BE A THOUSAND TIMES MORE NUTRITIOUS THAN A TYPICAL PREY." The other ant cheers "ALRIGHT, LET'S HEAD BACK." and "AH ... YOU'RE RIGHT!" Pike, covered in sweat, responds humbly: "I'M NOT WORTHY OF SUCH PRAISE! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR KIND WORDS!" while muttering "AH ..."

A young boy with a cap frantically writes a note on a scrap of paper, his face streaked with sweat and determination. SFX:*ripping* A small striped bee-like creature hovers nearby, ready to carry the message. Inner thoughts race: "I CAN'T SAVE HIM BY MYSELF! I HAVE TO FIND HELP!" "I CAN STILL MAKE IT! ALTHOUGH, HE WAS CAPTURED BY THEM ..." "HE PROBABLY WON'T BE EATEN IMMEDIATELY!" The boy hurls the bee forward with all his strength, shouting, "TRY AS HARD AS YOU CAN TO TAKE THE LETTER TO A HUNTER EMITTING A STRONG AURA ... !" and "I'M COUNTING ON YOU!" The bee streaks away into the forest. The boy sprints desperately through the trees, thinking, "THERE MUST BE SOMEONE THERE WHO CAN HELP ME!" and "I HAVE TO REACH THE BORDER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE ... !!"

A tall, spiky reptilian creature stands triumphantly, firing a handgun at an unseen target. The bullet impact creates a large black splash and debris. The creature laughs wildly: "KYAH HA HA HA, SO ENTERTAINING..." Smaller panels show the creature continuing to laugh "KYAH HA HA HA" while a small figure is blasted backward. In a close-up, the creature's face fills the frame with a wide, toothy grin, declaring, "HUNTING IS SO MUCH FUNNY... KYAH HA HA HA"

A torn map of NGL labeled 'CHIMERA ANTS NEST' dominates the top of the page, with desperate handwritten pleas reading 'SOMEBODY SAVE ME!' and 'PLEASE CONTACT THE HUNTER'S COMMITTEE.' Below, Gon and Killua stand with a group near several horses. A massive fly-like Chimera Ant looms nearby while a long-haired figure in a hat examines a paper. A bald man holding a horse reassures them that the animals can handle a fast pace. The long-haired figure urges haste, stating they must contact the Hunter's Committee after dealing with the dangerous species. Gon shouts 'ROGER!' as the group prepares to move. The long-haired figure tells the others to return to the border first while they contact the committee themselves. Someone calls out 'READY TO GO!' as Gon, Killua, and the long-haired figure begin running across the grassy plain, with a warning that anyone who cannot keep up will be left behind.

Gon, Killua, and the long-haired figure dash forward at extreme speed, motion lines and impact bursts emphasizing their rapid movement across the landscape. Large stylized SFX 'DASH' explodes across the top of the panel. In smaller panels below, three characters react with wide-eyed shock and open mouths to the sudden departure. A distant view shows the empty plain with a small figure and floating object. Narration declares that the NGL and Chimera Ants combination could result in an unprecedented ecological disaster. The page ends with the Hunter × Hunter logo and 'No.190/完'.
