## One Piece Chapter 1.2, pages 17-19: Romance Dawn - Chapter: 1.2 - Pages: 17-19 - Characters: Monkey D. Luffy, Anne ### Summary Page 17: In the cell, Luffy spins his straw hat on his finger, explaining, "THIS HAT WAS ALWAYS WORN BY THAT VIOLENT GRANDPA." Anne listens quietly as he adds, "IT'S MY TREASURE." In the next panel, Luffy places the hat back on his head. Anne thoughtfully repeats, "TREASURE...!" Luffy responds, "MM-HMM. WHAT'S YOURS?" Anne smiles warmly and replies, "IF THAT'S THE CASE, MINE'S... BALLOON!" Suddenly, Luffy ignores her completely, pointing excitedly out the small porthole window and shouting, "HEY, LOOK! A WHALE!" Anne, annoyed at being ignored, yells at him, "LISTEN! You!!" Page 18: The chapter title "ROMANCE DAWN" appears at the top left. In the cell, Luffy and Anne are sitting on the floor. Luffy complains, "I'M BORED..." and "I'M GETTING BORED OFF." Anne, looking annoyed, replies, "STOP DREAMING." and "THERE'S NO WAY!!" In the next panel, a wide shot of the cell shows Luffy lying flat on his back, fast asleep with a snoring sound. Anne sits hugging her knees, a silent "....." thought bubble above her. Luffy then sits up again, and Anne tells him, "WHAT I MEANT WAS THAT WE CAN'T GET OUT OF HERE. Idiot!" Luffy casually states, "MY BOAT WAS DESTROYED BY THAT HUGE BIRD." Anne agrees, "THAT'S TRUE." Suddenly, Luffy is standing outside the cell in the corridor. Anne is still inside, gripping the bars with a shocked expression, sharp teeth, and a loud "WAGA!!" sound effect. She screams, "HOW'D YOU GET OUT!!?" and "Lemme out, too!!" Luffy calmly points to a hook on the wall and says, "THE KEYS WERE RIGHT HERE." Anne yells back furiously, "I'M ASKING HOW YOU COULD REACH THOSE FROM INSIDE THIS CELL!!!" Page 19: Luffy walks away down the corridor, smiling. Anne, still behind bars, asks, "HEY! SO YOU CAN USE BLACK MAGIC?" Luffy replies, "NOPE." then adds, "BUT MAYBE IT'S SIMILAR." As Luffy continues walking, Anne calls out, "WHERE ARE YOU GOING?" Luffy answers without looking back, "ISN'T IT OBVIOUS? I'M GOING TO RESCUE BALLOON." Anne pleads, "HELP ME!" Luffy turns his head slightly and says bluntly, "I REFUSE." Anne yells louder, "HELP MEEE!!" but Luffy keeps walking, saying, "I REFUSE, too tiring." In the final panel, Luffy walks further down the hall. Anne leans against the bars, shouting, "STINGY!!!" Luffy replies, "YOU WERE THE ONE WHO SAID THAT THE PIRATES ON THIS SHIP ARE SCARY."
