## One Piece Chapter 1.2, pages 35-37: Romance Dawn - Chapter: 1.2 - Pages: 35-37 - Characters: Monkey D. Luffy, Anne, unidentified pirates ### Summary Page 35: In the top panel, the remains of the pirate ship are sinking into the ocean, leaving only the masts above the water. Bubbles rise to the surface. Voices from the drowning pirates call out: "HELP ME.", "HIEE-EK!", and "BAS-TARD SPIEL~~~!!". In the middle right panel, Luffy bursts out of the water, coughing violently, "BU-BABE-BAAAH!!". He is clinging to a piece of floating wooden debris and cries out, "I! I'M SAVED!!!". In the middle left panel, Anne is shown coughing, "GEHO GEHO". Luffy's voice from off-panel says gratefully, "TH-THANK YOU. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. YOU ARE MY SAVIOR." In the bottom right panel, Luffy lies flat on his back on the debris, completely drained. Anne looks down at him and says, "HEY....BAL-LOON!". In the bottom left panel, Anne sits on the floating wreckage, looking downcast. She explains, "BALLOON IS SAID TO BE THE LAST ROC. A ROC'S BLOOD IS SAID TO CARRY MAGICAL POWER, SO THAT'S WHAT HE'S AFTER!!!" Luffy remains lying beside her, silent with a "....." bubble. Page 36: Anne is shown crying, soaked in seawater. She laments, "THAT'S WHY I WAS KIDNAPPED. AS LONG AS I'M HERE, BALLOON WILL KEEP COMING BACK HERE...!!!" Tears stream down her face as she looks down, continuing, "I WISH HE WEREN'T MAGICAL OR RARE!!! EVEN IF HE WEREN'T SPECIAL, HE'D STILL BE MY BEST FRIEND!!!" In a small inset panel, Luffy is seen from behind, looking towards her and saying, "IT'S NOT OVER YET!" The bottom panel features a close-up of Luffy smiling confidently. He tells her, "DON'T GIVE UP. HE'S YOUR TREASURE, RIGHT?" Page 37: Luffy grabs the mast of the sunken ship and begins to run around it, stretching his rubber arm. He grunts, "KSHH" and "MUNH!" as he winds his arm tightly around the wood. Anne watches him from the water, bewildered, and asks, "...!! WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO DO!?" Luffy continues to spin, his face showing intense concentration with a silent ".....!!" In a large bottom panel, Luffy's arm is shown coiled around the mast dozens of times like a massive spring. With a shout of "FLY!!!!", he prepares to launch himself into the air.
