For Brook, the sight is almost comic and almost unbearable: "A skeleton whose afro is important to him... is nothing but comical to me!!!" When Ryuma's attack blows Brook away, Brook pleads, "Just not the afro!! Just not the afro!!!" Ryuma only says that Brook has an honest shape and offers to let him run before he leaves the island.
