## One Piece Chapter 522, pages 9-10: Fatal Disease - Chapter: 522 - Pages: 9-10 - Characters: Monkey D. Luffy, Elder Nyon, Portgas D. Ace, Marguerite ### Summary Page 9: Luffy asks how long it would take from Amazon Lily to where Ace is. Elder Nyon calculates the route: to the great prison Impel Down on a pirate ship would take one week, but on one of the Marine ships it would take four days. Luffy asks why Marine ships are that fast, and Elder Nyon explains that there are currents reserved for the World Government. A map shows Marine Headquarters at Marinford, the Great Prison Impel Down, Enies Lobby, Mariejoa, Sabaody Archipelago, Amazon Lily, the Calm Belt, and the current location. Elder Nyon explains that Enies Lobby, Impel Down, and Marine Headquarters are connected by a great current, and giant gates called the Gates of Justice can open at each point, allowing access to the three locations. If a gate is closed, one simply follows the current. Page 10: Elder Nyon adds that in order to avoid the swirling current, pirate ships must take a roundabout path. Luffy asks, "What should I do here...!? What do you want to do?" and suddenly notices Ace's tiny Vivre Card: "Could that be your brother's Vivre Card?" Luffy shows it, saying it is different because it is Ace's. Marguerite explains that Vivre Cards are also called "life papers" and indicate where the owner is and their vitality. She notes, "When I got it, it was about ten times larger...!!" Luffy remembers Ace giving him the paper and saying it is natural for him to worry. Luffy thinks that Ace is on his own adventure, and that it is weird to save his strong brother because Ace would probably get mad at him. Still, the shrinking card proves Ace is in grave danger.
