## One Piece Chapter 1.1, pages 20-21: Romance Dawn - Chapter: 1.1 - Pages: 20-21 - Characters: Monkey D. Luffy, Shiruku, Villagers, Mikazuki no Gyari, Older Woman ### Summary Page 20: Back in the restaurant, Shiruku continues her story. "IN THE PAST, SOME PIRATES RAIDED THIS VILLAGE AND LEFT ME BEHIND AS A BABY." She states, "I'M THE CHILD OF THE PIRATES THAT RAVAGED THIS VILLAGE." A flashback panel shows a crying baby wrapped in a blanket left on the ground amidst a ruined, burning village, with townspeople looking down at it. Shiruku narrates, "THEY MAY HAVE HELD A GRUDGE...", "YOU'D THINK THEY WOULDN'T FEEL ANY NEED TO PITY SUCH A CHILD BUT...". Another flashback panel shows the villagers smiling warmly and raising the young Shiruku. "THE PEOPLE OF THIS VILLAGE HELD NO SUCH FEELINGS," she explains, "AND THEY RAISED ME HERE." In the present, Luffy casually drinks from a cup (SFX: *GULP*), simply saying, "HOH." Shiruku suddenly slams her hands on the table (SFX: *SLAM*), leaning in intensely. "UNDERSTAND?!" she demands. "I DON'T WANT TO SEE THE PEOPLE OF THIS TOWN WITH SAD FACES!!" Luffy looks at her, responding with a thoughtful "HMMM!!". In a close-up, Shiruku looks fiercely determined, declaring, "BECAUSE THEY ARE TREASURED PEOPLE TO ME," "EVEN IF I'M ALONE, I'LL FIGHT!!" She then asks Luffy, "THERE WERE PIRATES ON THAT SHIP, RIGHT!?". Page 21: Luffy and Shiruku step out of the "Ba-baba Restaurant". Luffy pats his full stomach and calls back, "AH, THANKS FOR THE FOOD. IT WAS GOOD," as the older woman owner waves from the doorway. Suddenly, a loud voice booms from down the street: "LISTEN TO ME!!". Shiruku looks annoyed and mutters, "GYARI?". Luffy casually replies, "YEAH." Picking his nose, Luffy asks, "WHO'S THAT? WHAT A WEIRD NAME." Shiruku points at him angrily, "WAS HE REALLY NOT THERE? ISN'T HE THE CAPTAIN OF THAT SHIP YOU CAME IN ON!". Down the street, Gyari is screaming furiously, his face contorted with rage. "I WON'T FORGIVE YOU, YOU INSECT GATHERING BASTARD!!!" he roars. "THE MAN WHO CAN MAKE EVEN A CRYING CHILD SHUT UP, GYARI, IS ME!!!". Hearing this, Shiruku looks shocked and sweats, realizing, "EH... GYARI?!". Luffy looks toward the yelling pirate and casually recalls, "AH. HE DID SAY HIS NAME, DIDN'T HE?". In the distance, Gyari continues to fume, yelling, "YOU PISS ME OFF".
