## One Piece Chapter 1.2, pages 37-39: ROMANCE DAWN - Chapter: 1.2 - Pages: 37-39 - Characters: Monkey D. Luffy, Anne, Six-Sided Spiel, Balloon ### Summary Page 37: Luffy grabs the mast of the sunken ship and begins to run around it, stretching his rubber arm. He grunts, "KSHH" and "MUNH!" as he winds his arm tightly around the wood. Anne watches him from the water, bewildered, and asks, "...!! WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO DO!?" Luffy continues to spin, his face showing intense concentration with a silent ".....!!" In a large bottom panel, Luffy's arm is shown coiled around the mast dozens of times like a massive spring. With a shout of "FLY!!!!", he prepares to launch himself into the air. Page 38: The chapter title "ROMANCE DAWN" appears at the top left. High in the sky, Spiel flies away on his broomstick, carrying the struggling bird, Balloon. Spiel laughs arrogantly, "AH HA HA HA HA, I'M SO GREAT! I KNOW HOW TO MAKE AN EXIT!" Balloon squawks helplessly with a "GWAAAH". Spiel rationalizes his retreat, "EVEN IF I FIGHT A MONSTER LIKE THAT, IT WON'T DO ME ANY GOOD." A close-up shows his sinister grin as he adds, "ALL I NEED IS THE ROC'S BLOOD." Suddenly, a massive, blinding streak of motion shoots up from the ocean surface directly toward them. Down below, Anne shields her face from the intense wind and force of the launch, looking up in shock with a "!" bubble. Page 39: Spiel looks back in confusion with a "?" as Balloon squawks loudly, "GWEEEEEH!!". Spiel tells the bird, "HEY HEY, STOP STRUGGLING. WE'VE ALREADY COME THIS FAR..." Suddenly, Luffy lands squarely on Balloon's back, casually greeting Spiel with a "YO." Spiel's face contorts in absolute, sweating terror as he screams, "WHAAAT!!?". In a panic, Spiel points his gun at Luffy, yelling, "WHERE THE HECK DID YOU-!?!! D-DON'T GET ON!!!" and adds, "I ENVY YOU FOR BEING ABLE TO FLY." Unfazed, Luffy reaches out and grabs Spiel by the head with a "GASHI!!" sound, saying, "HEY!" Spiel can only utter a confused "HEH?".
