Luffy, Rob Lucci, Paulie, Galley-La shipwrights, Iceberg ### Summary Page 17: Luffy crashes through the room while his friends shout, "LUFFY!!!" He groans, "NGGG!!" but the attack has not killed him. Lucci observes the reason with clinical calm: "IF YOU'D HAD A NORMAL NECK... YOU'D NOW HAVE A HOLE IN IT, AND WOULD'VE DIED INSTANTLY, RUBBERMAN." The wounded Galley-La men cough and gasp, "EEHO!! GEHO!!!" and "KEHA!!!" Before anyone can recover, Lucci seizes Luffy with a hard "GRAB!" and flings or slams him across the ruined floor, sending wood, smoke, and debris flying. Luffy's rubber body saved his life, but it does not stop Lucci from dominating the exchange. Page 18: Bruised and breathing hard, Luffy confronts Lucci directly. Lucci asks, "WHAT ARE YOU DOING... STRAW HAT? YOU'RE PLANNING TO KILL HIM!!!" Luffy cannot accept that these men were shipwrights only moments ago, shouting, "WEREN'T YOU SHIPWRIGHTS TOGETHER?!!" Lucci answers without emotion, "'TIL A MOMENT AGO, YES. BUT IT'S DIFFERENT NOW..." Luffy's anger rises past the pain: "YOU REALLY ARE A TRAITOR!!! FINE THEN. ANYWAYS, I PROMISED THIS GUY!! THAT WE'D BEAT THE CRAP OUT OF THE GUYS WHO TRIED TO KILL ICE-OSSAN!!!" The promise to Iceberg becomes Luffy's reason to stand again.
