What happens in chapter 47

Gon and Killua reach the 200th floor where an overwhelming murderous aura blocks their path. They encounter Hisoka, who reveals he followed them and declares they are not yet ready to proceed. Wing intervenes to explain Nen techniques including Ten, Ren, and Zetsu, then takes the boys aside for training. Kurapika joins to discuss registration deadlines.

Gon floats high above the clouds inside a wicker basket. His own enormous smiling head acts as the balloon, carrying him upward. Pterodactyl-like birds circle around the basket and the giant head. The sky stretches wide with layered clouds below and above.

Gon

In a tiled hallway, Gon and Killua stand facing each other. Killua looks tense with sweat on his face while Gon appears focused. Other children watch from the sides. A directional sign with arrows hangs from the ceiling. The scene shifts to an empty corridor. In the final panel the corridor shakes with motion lines and the sound effect GOGO as something moves rapidly toward the distant doors.

Gon Killua

Killua stands frozen in the narrow corridor, sweat beading on his face as his eyes widen in alarm. A large narration box reads: "WHEREAS WE'RE ONLY IN A MERE CORRIDOR..." while another voice-over declares, "WHAT IS THIS? IT'S AS IF WE'RE LOST AMONG A JUNGLE AMONG A LOT OF HARMFUL PEOPLE!!" Gon appears beside him, equally tense. Suddenly the boys break into a run. Killua shouts "LET'S GO!" and urges "COME ON." as motion lines and impact SFX explode around them. "TAP TAP" and "ZUUUUN" mark their hurried steps and the corridor's sudden distortion. Gon keeps pace at Killua's side, both boys pushing forward through the strange pressure filling the hallway.

Killua Gon

Killua and Gon sprint down the corridor as a massive swirling black aura erupts behind them, shaped like jagged claws or wings. The aura surges forward with a loud "ZUZUZUZU" while Gon cries out "ARGH!!!" Both boys are visibly struggling against an invisible force. A panel shows them from behind, Gon gripping his sword, as narration states there is "NO DOUBT IT'S DIRECTED AGAINST US!" and "A MURDERING ENERGY!" Another voice adds, "WE DON'T WANT TO GO FORWARD!!" A close-up of a terrified eye reads "IMPOSSIBLE...!! WE CAN'T MOVE FORWARD!" Killua whirls around, shouting desperately "SHOW YOURSELF!!" and "HEY!! WHO'S THERE?"

In a sudden burst of motion, Hisoka appears standing with a massive, blurred hand striking forward, the word 'FLIT' slashing across the panel. Gon and Killua stand together in the background, weapons ready, watching the attack. Both boys react with shock in close-up, eyes wide and sweat forming. 'We've made it to here...' one exclaims. 'Are you kidding?!' the other shouts. Hisoka, now facing them directly with a calm, painted face, replies, 'But now, it's too soon. Come back another time.' A close-up shows a shocked face with radiating lines and exclamation marks, followed by a large, bandaged hand reaching forward in the final panel.

Killua Gon Hisoka

Wing admits he lied earlier but suggests they leave the place first and start explaining real Nen properly. In the hallway, the three walk away together while Killua mutters that he didn't doubt it.

Killua Gon Wing

Killua stands with arms crossed in a fighting pose. A digital clock reads 8:20 with a 'Bip' sound. Gon looks worried, thinking that if today passes they might have to restart from the first floor. A long-haired figure, Kurapika, explains that restarting would be seen as opposing the registration and that Killua has already refused once, making re-registration impossible. Gon and Killua exchange tense glances. The long-haired figure concludes they should not stay here any longer.

Killua stares forward with a tense, sweat-streaked face. Gon stands beside him, eyes narrowed in focus. Kurapika watches with a serious expression. In the larger panel Killua stands in the center of a plain room and asks, "HERE?" Gon, holding a wooden staff, replies, "WILL WE BE BACK BY MIDNIGHT..." A voice answers from off-panel, "IT ONLY DEPENDS ON YOU." The scene shifts to a digital clock reading 8:30. A long empty hallway is shown with a lone figure sitting on the floor at the far end, back against the wall.

Killua Gon Wing

A small table covered in scattered flowers sits in the corner of the room. Wing stands with his arm extended, pointing at the floor while declaring, "THAT'S 'NEN'." Gon and Killua watch from the doorway. A large panel shows a vase of blooming flowers with visible aura lines radiating outward. Gon and Killua watch with wide eyes and exclamation marks above their heads. In close-up, Gon sweats while staring at Wing, who points upward again. Wing admits, "For me, it's the exceptional sensitivity they show that surprises me. Because I don't want to injure you." The scene shifts to a hallway where Wing, Gon, Killua, and Zushi stand. Wing asks if they feel the small pressure. Killua replies, "But it's a bad feeling..." Narration boxes add that a lot depends on personality and the environment where one is raised.

Wing Gon Killua Zushi

Wing continues his explanation in profile, stating that aura is the energy that comes out of the human body and that other human beings give it optimal utilisation. He notes there is only one way to protect the body from Nen users: using Nen oneself and protecting with Ten. He adds that a bad spirit can kill a man without defense. Gon and Killua listen intently. Wing's foot taps the floor with a "TAP" sound effect as he says otherwise they repel the opposite aura with their own aura. A dramatic panel shows a sharp impact with "KWA" and lightning-like lines. Wing extends his arm in a defensive motion with a "TAC" sound as the sequence ends.

A lone figure stands with his back to the viewer, facing a massive wall that has been violently cracked in a radial pattern from a central impact point.
