Chapter 77

In a bright outdoor field dotted with white flowers, Kurapika stands with Leorio and several other men. Melody plays a flute while standing on one leg. The music fills the air. In a darker rocky area, the same group appears again with Melody still playing. A close-up shows Melody saying 'FIELD OF SPRING.' Leorio, looking exhausted, replies 'THE BEST MELODY TO RELAX.' Kurapika and the others stand nearby as the melody continues.

A large close-up shows a bald figure with a wide grin holding a long flute-like instrument, raising one finger while a musical note floats nearby. The figure says, "LET'S THINK BEFORE WE ATTACK." and "I THINK THIS CALMED YOU, DIDN'T IT?" In smaller panels below, a blond character thanks the bald figure, who replies that it is okay and that their mind has recovered. The group stands together on rocky ground: Gon, Killua, Leorio, and Kurapika are visible from behind as they face forward. Leorio appears surprised, muttering "...? AH, YEAH..." The bald figure waves cheerfully. Further down, the group reacts with confusion as someone calls out "BOSS..." and another asks "WHAT?!" The bald figure's eye widens in surprise. In the final large panel, Kurapika stands determined against a rocky cliff backdrop, declaring "LET ME DO IT." and "I HAVE A GOOD PLAN TO STOP THEM." while the others watch from a distance.

A bright flash erupts behind the light-haired boy as he glances sharply over his shoulder. Beside him, the spiky-haired boy points forward with wide eyes while a voice declares, "I'M COMING." In the distance across cracked earth, a figure sprints toward distant shapes as a large speech bubble shouts, "SHIZUKU! HURRY UP AND TAKE OUT THE POISON!" Sound effects mark rapid footsteps: "Tap Tap" and "!! Ha!!" A tight close-up shows intense eyes widening with a metallic "CLING." Below, the massive chained man with wild spiky hair and heavy iron links stares in shock, mouth open, a small bubble reading "...!?" as the light-haired girl watches him in profile from the side.

The chained man transforms violently, his body swelling with fur and muscle as he roars "AAAAAAAH!?" in agony. Massive black impact lines and debris explode outward while a huge "VIUUUUM" sound effect dominates the center. The transformed beast-like figure lunges forward with clawed hands. In a small inset, the light-haired girl stares in shock with "!?" as a blade flashes "Ksh!" and "Fiot" near her. At the bottom, distant figures stand on the barren plain near a large circular crater.

Kurapika, Killua, and their allies crouch among jagged rocks as they assess the situation. Kurapika explains that he erased the aura of his wire with Zetsu, noting that as long as the Injyuu do not break the wire with Gyuo they will not find the needle. He adds that for the moment they still know where the enemy is taking their captive. Killua states they are not talking about the leeches and that Injyuu reinforcements were still paralyzed by the poison. In the distance a figure is seen completely surrounded by chains in a fraction of a second. Kurapika declares that his wire will follow them as far as needed. The group moves to a dark rocky overlook at night. They agree they might be able to take care of all the remaining Injyuu before they notice. One member says he is going to look for some beer.

A massive chained man with wild hair sits inside a vehicle, his body wrapped in heavy chains and fur. Motion lines streak across the next panel as the vehicle speeds forward. Inside the car the chained man leans forward and shouts hey. Killua grips the steering wheel with a focused expression while a bald passenger sits beside the large prisoner. The chained man warns that he is only a little bit restrained and questions whether they think the chains can hold him. Killua sharply tells him to shut up.

A close-up reveals a wide, intense eye with a bead of sweat flying off as motion lines radiate outward. In the next panel, Kurapika appears in profile, speaking firmly. "YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND? YOU WON'T HAVE THIS CHANCE TWICE. IF YOU DON'T KILL ME RIGHT NOW, YOU'RE GONNA REGRET IT, YOU KNOW." Below, Uvogin is shown mid-reaction, body straining against thick chains wrapped around his torso and arms. The chains visibly tighten with a loud "CLING" as Uvogin shouts "GLUAH... ARGH..." The chain has grown and is constricting further. Kurapika, now shown from behind with his hair in a ponytail, aims a chain-linked weapon forward and declares, "I TOLD YOU TO SHUT UP." A small shocked face appears in the corner as someone yells, "KURAPIKA! LOOK IN FRONT OF YOU!!!" while the weapon emits "VROOOM" and motion lines.

Kurapika stands with his chain weapon extended as a massive impact effect erupts. The words "CHAIN JAIL !!!" burst outward in a large circular burst. Uvogin's face twists in agony, eyes bulging, as he exclaims "A NEN CHAIN ...?!" and "ARGH..." Multiple "CRIII" sound effects surround him while the chains dig in. Uvogin internally questions how the chain can rival his reinforced body despite the poison still affecting him. Kurapika's intense eye fills the lower panel as he states, "STOPPING THE RYODAN AND DEPRIVING IT OF ITS LIBERTY!! THIS TECHNIQUE EXISTS ONLY FOR THIS!!" and "THE CHAIN JAIL IS A TECHNIQUE I CAN ONLY USE AGAINST YOU!!!" The chains continue to bind and crush with repeated "CRIII" effects.

Kurapika stands against a backdrop of radiating speed lines, his short light hair framing a determined face. He speaks about the lethal restriction on his ability. "A SYSTEM EXISTS TO PREVENT ME FROM DOING IT: IT KILLS ME INSTANTLY!!" he declares. "SUPPOSING I USE IT AGAINST SOMEONE WHO ISN'T PART OF THE RYODAN..." The scene shifts to close-ups of his hand and the chain with a ball-like weight swinging violently amid impact lines and "DOM" sound effects. "THAT'S THE CONDITION AND THE PLEDGE!! THE PROOF OF MY DETERMINATION!!" Kurapika continues, his eye visible in extreme close-up. "THERE'S A RISK, BUT THE MORE POWERFUL THE DETERMINATION AND CONDITIONS ARE, THE MORE STRENGTH MY NEN HAS!!" A final shout rings out: "KURAPIKA! IN FRONT! IN FRONT!"

A white luxury car speeds along a dark mountain road at night under a starry sky, with "Vrrrr" sound effect trailing behind it. In the next panels, Leorio grips the steering wheel with a shocked expression while Kurapika sits beside him. Speech bubbles convey alarm: "IT'S COMING REALLY FAST!" "A CAR IS COMING FROM BEHIND." "THEY'VE FOLLOWED US?!" Leorio's face fills a panel as he yells, "THEY'RE GOING TO CATCH YOU!!!" and "KURAPIKA, SPEED UP!!" The pursuing vehicle is visible in the distance with motion lines indicating high speed.

A close-up shows Ubogin’s face tightening as a metallic cling echoes near his leg. Nearby, a long-haired woman holding a gun glances back sharply. “FOLLOWED ? HOW’RE WE’RE FAR AWAY FROM THE CITY…” she mutters. In the next instant a voice cries out “SCUWALA! ON HIS LEFT CALF, THERE’S SOMETHING THERE!” as a thin wire snaps taut around Ubogin’s leg. “A WIRE!! A NEN WIRE!!” the woman shouts. Ubogin snarls “DAMN!” while the wire yanks him off balance. Inside the speeding car Gon grips the wheel and says calmly, “NOT IMPORTANT. WE’VE CAUGHT UP WITH THEM.” Killua, seated beside him, adds “WE’RE CLOSE.” and “THEY’VE UNDER-STOOD.” as the vehicle races forward.

A figure leaps onto the hood of the speeding car, boots slamming down with impact lines flaring. The vehicle swerves under the sudden weight. In the foreground Leorio stares upward in shock, eyes wide behind his sunglasses, a large exclamation mark bursting beside his face. Bright light flares from the headlights and motion streaks fill the panel as the car hurtles onward.

A fighter in a flowing white outfit leaps high into the air above a sleek car, arms and legs spread wide in an exaggerated pose as speed lines burst outward from the center. A massive speech bubble erupts beside him declaring "FUN FUN CLOTH !!!". The car sits angled below on a dark surface, its rear visible with motion streaks emphasizing the dramatic jump. At the bottom of the page, five small reaction panels show a boy with glasses looking worried, a spiky-haired figure grimacing with teeth bared, a mustached man staring upward with wide eyes, and two girls with neutral, attentive expressions.
