Why did Calgara start hating Noland?

Answered

The answer

Chapter 288 · updated

Calgara started hating Noland because Noland killed the giant snake the Shandia villagers worshipped as a god. After the killing the villagers erupted in panic shouting "HE KILLED OUR GOD!" and demanding Noland offer his own blood on the altar to atone ch. 288, p. 1. Kalgara arrived furious and the entire village turned hostile overnight with Kalgara declaring he never wanted to see the foreigners again ch. 290, p. 14. Noland's crew noticed the sudden change asking if they had stayed too long while villagers refused to speak of the previous night's events ch. 290, p. 15. Kalgara later told Noland he had no right to interfere with their ways and accused the outsiders of trampling their history ch. 288, p. 3. The sources show the hatred began immediately after the deicide and never mentions any other cause.
