Imu is the embodiment of the void

Imu is the literal embodiment of the void. To start this theory, we need to talk about the Abyss. The abyss is a real thing in the one piece world as the God's Knights travel through it and Imu gives the mark of the Abyss. However, the Abyss is also a real place in the Christian Bible. It appears in a couple different places such as in Luke 8:31 where the demon "Legion" who begged Jesus not to send him to the Abyss, and Revelation 9:1-11 which is very important to this discussion. These verses describe a fallen star unlocking the Abyss leading many demons into the world, and NIV Revelation 9:11 states:

11 They had as king over them the angel of the Abyss, whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon and in Greek is Apollyon (that is, Destroyer)."

I believe Oda is making a parallel between Imu and Abbadon. This Abaddon figure has two major interpretations. The first and less common, is that this is a completely new angel never mentioned before; the second and more common belief is that Abaddon is another title that Satan has accrued. The reason why people believe the second is because Abaddon leads a horde of demons and Satan is the ultimate leader of all demons, and the title of "Destroyer" makes a lot of sense for Satan to have.

This idea that Satan is the angel of the Abyss makes the parallels between him and Imu very prevalent. Both Imu and Satan have control over the Abyss. Both control armies that travel through the abyss (for Satan its demons, and Imu its those who he gave the mark of the abyss to). Imu looks a lot like Satan, especially in the most recent chapter 1192. Finally, I would argue that for this theory, both of them are of the Abyss although in different ways. Satan is of the Abyss because he is its ruler while I believe Imu originated from the Abyss and is its embodiment.

I originally stated that Imu was the embodiment of the void while here, I said he was the embodiment of the Abyss. This is because I believe Oda uses the two terms interchangeably. There are differences between the two. Both are the absence of everything in a certain space, but the Abyss is more like a bottomless pit that can never be filled. Think of the void as the emptiness of space while the Abyss is a black hole. On the other hand, this is a very small difference, and the two terms could easily be interchangeable because the term void could be used to describe an Abyss.

With that, why do I think that Imu is the embodiment of this Abyss/Void. There are three reasons. The first is that Imu often refers to himself as "Mu." A basic google search says that "Mu" means, "Nothingness." What is nothingness? The void. Therefore Imu refers to himself as "the void". Therefore, this evidence suggests that Imu is "the void" because he refers to himself as "the void."

The second piece of evidence is Imu's natural form. As far as we can tell, Imu has two two major forms. The is the complete black form we have seen him in at Mary Geoise, God Valley, and the corporeal humanoid form at Elbaph. The question is, which is Imu's natural form? The assumption was that Imu's form on Elbaph was his natural form, but that was just an assumption. There is no evidence that Imu's form on Elbaph is his natural form. His darkness form maybe his natural form and if he directly wants to leave Mary Geoise, then he needs to take on a more corporeal form.

The third reason is that in chapter 1188 we see Joy Boy and Imu's first encounter with each other. We see nothing when they were talking with each other, so we assumed that Oda completely hid the scene from us, showing only the words. However, what if that was not the case? If we assume the Abyss is a literal place in the One Piece world like it is in the Bible then this entire scene could have taken place in the Void/Abyss. Therefore, the entire scene could be read as "Joy Boy called the void, and Mu, the void, talked back." This would completely explain the scene as Joy Boy was confused because the void wasn't supposed to talk back. Imu was confused as being the literal embodiement of the void he wouldn't be aware of the existence of anything else. Then Joy Boy started talking to him.

These three reasons mean Imu must be the literal embodiment of the void as he calls himself the void, looks like the void and originates from the void.
