Three tall, bare trees stand in a row, each with a small animal or creature impaled on its upper branches. Gon and Killua stand below, staring upward at the gruesome display. Flies buzz loudly around the impaled prey. Gon blurts out, "WHAT ?" while Killua observes, "LOOKS JUST LIKE A QUICK SACRIFICE." A translator note explains that the shrike bird impales its prey on thorns. In the next panel a small bird perches beside a frog it has already speared on a branch. Kite, wearing his wide-brimmed hat, stares at the scene and states, "IT'S THE HABIT OF THE SHRIKE ... TO IMPALE ITS PREY." Farther away, three distant figures stand among the trees. From the foreground a large silhouetted figure raises an arm and shouts, "HEY!"
