Crocodile knew the name Pluton and that it was the ancient weapon hidden somewhere in Alabasta. ch. 193, p. 9 He made obtaining it his central objective to gain military dominance. ch. 193, p. 8 Crocodile partnered with Nico Robin specifically because she could read poneglyphs and lead him to the one in the royal crypt. ch. 202, p. 5 Robin explains that the Alabasta poneglyph most likely holds the location to Pluton. ch. 202, p. 6 Crocodile states that if Robin led him to the poneglyph then he would give her information on the secret weapon. ch. 203, p. 6 When the stone yields only history and never mentions Pluton, Crocodile reacts with disappointment. ch. 203, p. 5 The sources detail his actions and partnership but provide no origin for his initial knowledge of the weapon.
