Crocus joined Roger for the last voyage as ship's doctor. Rayleigh explains that Roger had a terminal disease about four years before execution ch. 506, p. 9. A man from the Twin Capes called Crocus was the only one who could ease Roger's suffering ch. 506, p. 10. "WAS A MAN FROM THE TWIN CAPES, CALLED CROCUS. HE WAS THE ONLY MAN WHO COULD EVEN EASE ROGER'S SUFFERING. WE ASKED HIM TO COME WITH US ON OUR 'LAST VOYAGE,' AS THE SHIP'S DOCTOR." ch. 506, p. 10. The crew recruited him when their conquest of the Grand Line was already over ch. 506, p. 10. Crocus stayed three years until Roger's life stopped ch. 506, p. 11.
