The answer

Chapter 974 · updated

Kurozumi Kanjuro betrayed the Nine Red Scabbards because he is a Kurozumi loyal to Orochi. From the beginning the Kanjuro they knew never existed and his only role was to feed Orochi information while living among them. ch. 974, p. 9 He states the reason outright as "My name is Kanjuro Kurozumi!!! How's that for a reason?" ch. 974, p. 10 Since childhood he had lost his emotions and searched for a place to die, finding pleasure in completely becoming his role as a spy. ch. 974, p. 4 Orochi confirms Kanjuro supplied useful intelligence on Oden's raid yet felt no emotions and performed the deception with creepy devotion. ch. 974, p. 4 In chapter 982 he is labeled "SHOGUN OROCHI'S BETRAYER KUROZUMI KANJURO" upon delivering Momonosuke. ch. 982, p. 3
