The Will That Shaped the World.

If we actually connect all of these recent revelations together, the biggest thing that we have to understand is that the entire foundation of the World Government may be built around a lie because we were always told that the 20 kingdoms came together 800 years ago, that the founders essentially created a system where no single king would stand above the others, and that is why we have the Empty Throne, the swords surrounding it, and the entire idea that the rulers of the world are supposedly equal, but the problem is that Imu completely destroys that interpretation because if Imu is sitting on the Empty Throne, commanding the Five Elders, controlling the highest level of the World Government, possessing knowledge that nobody else seems to have, and now displaying a level of power that allows Imu to completely dominate Luffy, then the Empty Throne was never really empty because it was simply a symbol designed to make everyone believe that there was no supreme ruler when, in fact, there was always something-or someone-above the entire system, and that becomes even more interesting when we look at the idea that Imu may not simply be one person ruling the world but could actually represent the accumulated will of the original founders themselves because remember that Oda has always treated inherited will as one of the most important concepts in the entire story, so if we are starting to talk about the 19 kingdoms, their weapons, their souls, their wills, and Imu's strange connection to all of them, then we may be looking at a completely different interpretation of what the World Government actually is because the public version says the founders were equals, but the hidden version could be that there was a massive conflict among them during the Void Century and Imu ultimately emerged the victor, somehow taking control of or absorbing the wills of the other rulers, leaving only the illusion that the original agreement was still being honored, and that would explain why Imu can simultaneously be an individual but feel like something much larger than an individual because those strange eyes and the ominous imagery surrounding Imu could potentially represent multiple wills existing inside the same entity because Imu is essentially the final result of 800 years of accumulated authority, hatred, ambition, memory, and power, and it is where the swords become extremely important because if the weapons Imu uses are connected to the original kings, then these aren't simply random weapons that Imu happens to possess but physical representations of the people who originally created the world order, meaning that when Imu attacks Luffy with these weapons, there is actually a symbolic meaning behind it because the entire old world is literally being used to execute the person who represents the dawn of the new world, and the Muramasa connection makes even more interesting because Muramasa has a real-world reputation as a cursed blade, and in One Piece, cursed or ominous swords aren't necessarily just weapons that are evil for no reason because swords such as the Kitetsu blades and Enma have personalities, wills, demands, or overwhelming presences that the swordsman has to confront, so if the original kings' souls actually became these weapons, then the idea of them being Yoto would fit perfectly with Oda's obsession with giving objects their own identity and will, so in other words, Imu may not simply be holding nineteen powerful swords, Imu may actually be commanding nineteen remnants of the ancient rulers themselves, which brings us directly to Maki because this mysterious black flame associated with Imu could be one of the most important pieces of the entire puzzle, especially if we compare what Imu can do with what the Five Elders can do because the Elders aren't simply powerful old men anymore, their transformations, unnatural regeneration, apparent immortality, and monstrous forms suggest that something fundamentally different has been given to them, and the theory that Imu gave them Maki would explain why they all possess abilities that feel connected rather than completely independent because almost as though Imu is distributing pieces of the same supernatural authority to different servants, their Yokai forms could therefore be manifestations of that power, while their apparent immortality could be another consequence of it, meaning that what the world sees as the Five Elders might actually be five extensions of Imu's authority rather than five independent rulers, and once you accept that possibility, the concept of Black Blades becomes much more interesting because maybe forging a Kokuto isn't simply about a swordsman repeatedly using Haki until the blade magically changes color but about imposing one's own will over another supernatural presence inside the sword, so if Maki can exist inside weapons and if these ancient weapons possess the wills or souls of the original kings, then the swordsman who creates a Black Blade could essentially be conquering, taming, or overwhelming that presence with their own Haki, which would make Black Blades a physical representation of absolute willpower, and that could also explain why characters such as Zoro are so important to this particular theory because Zoro has repeatedly demonstrated that his relationship with swords isn't about simply carrying weapons, it's about proving that his will is stronger than whatever the sword demands from him, and Enma already forced him to confront exactly that concept by drawing out enormous amounts of Haki, so the idea that Zoro eventually creates a permanent Black Blade could represent him reaching a point where his own Haki completely dominates the supernatural force within his sword, and if Imu's Maki is somehow connected to the Celestial Dragons, then the theory that Zoro needs to cut down a "dragon" before his blade becomes black becomes extremely interesting symbolically because Zoro wouldn't just be cutting down an ordinary enemy, he would literally be cutting through the power structure represented by the Celestial Dragons and overcoming the darkness that has controlled the world for eight centuries, and this brings us right back to Luffy because Luffy's current situation against Imu is important precisely because this isn't supposed to be another Crocodile situation where Luffy loses, learns something, comes back, and wins through a relatively straightforward power progression, nor is it simply another Kaido-style battle where Luffy gradually discovers a higher level of physical power, because Imu's dominance is being presented as something fundamentally different, Luffy represents Nika, freedom, inherited will, and the coming dawn, while Imu represents the ancient system that has spent centuries suppressing information, controlling history, and maintaining the world in darkness, so if Luffy is being completely overwhelmed right now, the story may be showing us that Gear 5 alone isn't actually enough to defeat what Imu represents, Gear 5 gave Luffy incredible freedom and allowed him to fight in ways that previously seemed impossible, but we still haven't necessarily seen the full meaning behind the title Sun God Nika because being the Sun God should imply more than simply having a white transformation and rubber-like freedom, the sun is literally associated with light, heat, fire, dawn, and the destruction of darkness, so if Imu's Maki is essentially a black flame or darkness-based power, then the logical thematic counter isn't simply "more Haki", but another form of flame, another source of power, something connected to the original Nika and potentially to the Eternal Flame that Vegapunk introduced, which could lead to the ultimate ideological and visual contrast of the series: Imu's flame versus Nika's flame, darkness versus sunlight, control versus freedom, the old world versus the dawn, and inherited oppression versus inherited will, and that would also give Luffy a power progression that actually fits him instead of simply making Gear 5 stronger for the sake of it, because Luffy wouldn't be learning a random new technique, he would be discovering another aspect of what Nika actually is, maybe the real power of Nika isn't simply turning everything into something cartoon-like, but manipulating the very forces associated with the sun itself, including flame or some form of eternal fire, and if that happens, then the final confrontation with Imu could become a literal clash between two forms of flame, representing one that has ruled for 800 years and the one that Joy Boy failed to bring, and then we have Biblo which at first sounds like a completely separate mystery, but if Oda is actually positioning Biblo as a survivor or companion connected to Joy Boy, then Biblo could become the missing bridge between the ancient era and Luffy's present journey, because we've already seen that the world contains beings who possess knowledge far older than the current civilization, such as Zunisha and the Sea Kings, and these creatures don't necessarily communicate in normal ways, which means Biblo being able to communicate through some kind of telepathy or inherited voice wouldn't be out-of-place at all, the most interesting part is the possibility that Biblo isn't simply an ancient creature who knows Joy Boy but an actual mentor figure because Luffy has spent the entire story learning through experience, fighting, failing, improvising, and copying ideas from the people around him, but he has never really had an ancient teacher who understands Nika himself, imagine if Biblo has knowledge of Joy Boy, understands what Nika originally represented, and knows something about the true nature of the power Luffy is carrying because Biblo wouldn't need to become a fighter or overshadow Luffy, Biblo could actually be the character who finally explains what Luffy's Devil Fruit actually means and teaches him how to access something that even Joy Boy may have misunderstood, and the Eco-Eco Fruit theory also fits into this because if Biblo's ability involves enlargement or manipulating the size of objects and himself, it could connect him to the enormous scale we keep seeing around the ancient world, giants, ancient weapons, and creatures that seem completely disproportionate to modern beings, although obviously that part remains much more speculative, but the larger point is that Oda repeatedly introduces seemingly ridiculous or strange characters before revealing that they are connected to something enormous, so we shouldn't automatically assume Biblo is comic relief just because he is an owl, so that brings us to Shanks because his Jolly Roger becomes particularly fascinating when you place it next to this entire theory about souls and inherited wills, Shanks is already one of the biggest contradictions in the story because he has connections to the Celestial Dragons while simultaneously living as a pirate, his position makes him someone who understands both sides of the world far better than almost anyone else, so if his Jolly Roger is deliberately associated with souls rather than simply the standard pirate skull imagery, then it could be another example of Oda using symbolism to tell us that Shanks' relationship with the ancient world and the Celestial Dragons is more complicated than it appears, perhaps the symbol represents the souls or wills of those who came before him, perhaps it represents his rejection of the legacy he inherited, or perhaps it is connected to something much deeper involving the original rulers and the fate of the world, but either way, when you put Shanks, Imu, the 19 kingdoms, the Empty Throne, the swords, Maki, Black Blades, Nika, and Joy Boy together, it all starts to look much less like a collection of separate mysteries and more like one giant conflict over the concept of inherited will, the ancient kings created a world, Imu potentially absorbed or conquered their collective authority, the World Government turned that history into propaganda, the Celestial Dragons inherited the privilege created by that ancient system, the Five Elders became extensions of Imu's authority, the ancient weapons and forbidden history were buried, Joy Boy failed to bring the dawn, and now Luffy has inherited the will of that failed attempt, so Luffy's fight with Imu isn't simply "strong pirate versus strong ruler", because the entire history of the world is standing behind both sides, Imu has 800 years of accumulated power, authority, secrets, and potentially the wills of the original rulers, while Luffy has the inherited will of Joy Boy, Nika, the people who resisted the World Government, and ultimately everyone who has ever fought for freedom, and that's why I think the biggest part of this theory is actually the thematic structure, Imu is the world that refuses to change, while Luffy is the force that makes change inevitable, Imu's power turns wills into weapons and uses the past to maintain control, while Luffy's power carries the past forward without allowing it to control him, Zoro potentially turning his swords black would represent the mastery of those ancient wills through his own Haki, while Luffy mastering the true flame of Nika would represent the dawn finally overpowering Imu's darkness, and if Biblo really is connected to Joy Boy, then he could be the one who helps Luffy understand what that ancient power was supposed to become, and if that is all correct, then the final saga isn't merely about finding the One Piece anymore, because the One Piece, the Void Century, the Empty Throne, the Ancient Kingdom, Joy Boy, Nika, Imu, the Celestial Dragons, the 19 kingdoms, and the inherited wills of the characters we've followed for hundreds of chapters may all be pieces of the exact same mystery, and that would make the final battle much bigger than Luffy defeating one villain because it would be the moment when an entire world built on a fabricated history finally gets forced to confront the truth, which is why Imu is so terrifying: he isn't physically stronger than Luffy right now, but Imu represents the accumulated power of the old world itself, which is why Luffy's eventual victory has to mean more than simply punching harder, he has to overcome the will behind the system, Zoro has to overcome the wills inside his swords, the truth of the Void Century has to overcome the lie of the World Government, and the light of Nika has to overcome the darkness that has ruled the world for 800 years, and if Oda really is building towards that conclusion, then the final war isn't just going to decide who is the strongest, it is going to decide which will gets to define the future of the entire world.
