Appearance

Going Merry features a sheep figurehead at the bow along with a striped hull and multiple circular windows visible above the waterline. The vessel displays a skull and crossbones sail when departing from island shores.1

Merry enters the Grand Line at full speed and collides nose-first with the whale Laboon at the canal entrance. The vessel later docks at village shores where villagers gather before departure with the sail raised.78

Further voyages

The ship sails toward the Alabasta kingdom and later departs an island after retrieving gold. It encounters pursuit by Blackbeard and crew on the ocean while a South Bird stands on the deck.910

Sky island aftermath

Merry accelerates suddenly without sails set when pulled at high speed by a shrimp. After leaving a sky island the vessel floats on the open sea while the crew survives a violent descent.1112

During the Davy Back Fight the vessel rocks on waves while a hidden duel unfolds inside. Spectators on surrounding ships cheer for their side as the Going Merry remains positioned amid the ongoing combat round.13

Merry drifts through Water Seven on its own after being pushed into rising water. The ship rides the flooded city currents and arrives at Galley-La headquarters exactly when the crew faces fire and escape attempts by CP9.14

Final voyage

Merry collides with a government ship and drifts helplessly afterward while struck by debris and waves. The vessel later floats beside a small battered boat on calm water before burning and sinking during its final journey under falling snow.1516

Relationships

Merry converses with Kaya on a cliff overlooking the sea and questions her true feelings about Usopp leaving. Kaya sits on the grassy shore watching where the Going Merry disappeared while Merry stands behind her.217

The crew gathers on the deck of Going Merry after repairs. Luffy refuses any new ship and declares Going Merry is their only ship when facing the possibility of replacement.318

Major battles

Going Merry faces an approach by Momoo in open water where crew members stand ready on deck during the encounter. The ship remains positioned nearby throughout the confrontation without sustaining direct structural harm.19

The vessel encounters Wapol standing on open water during snowfall and suffers a ram from the Tin Can King submarine that lifts it partially out of the sea. Later a sea king attack pulls the ship underwater before release into a massive whirlpool.2021
