One PieceForming
Nika's rubber powers stem from the deity being born from enslaved people harvesting rubber and their desire for freedom, drawing a parallel to Brazil's historical rubber industry and the spiritual significance of flora in One Piece arcs like Skypiea.
The theory is that the origins of the legend of Nika will be shown in the manga, with the reason for Nika having rubber properties explained. The theory purports that Nika is a deity born from slaves harvesting rubber and their desire to be free.
My theory draws upon the meta aspect of Luffy being Brazilian. In the real world, enslavement occurred in Brazil's rubber industry, during the Amazon Rubber Boom, where rubber was extracted from trees.
In One Piece, it is demonstrated that Nika is the warrior of liberation, born from the desire of slaves to be free. Further, in arcs like Skypiea, connection to the land through flora and fauna is demonstrated as spiritually significant. E.g Skypiea - Trees, Alabasta - Eagles and Jackals.
In conclusion, I believe that the story / tale of Nika will be born from the desire of slaves, extracting rubber, to have the fruits of their labour liberate them rather than oppress them. Thus, they hope for Nika to come out of a rubber tree
Small lil theory but I think it’s cool.
