NO.179: ATTACK OF THREE, PART 10

A massive explosion erupts at the top of the page. Two speech bubbles declare: ARE YOU TOTALLY MEANINGLESS! and ALL YOUR PRIDE AND HARD WORK... In the next panel Gon is seen from the side, mouth open in a shout, while Gensuru is hurled backward against a wooden structure, body twisting from the impact. Lightning-like impact lines surround Gensuru. A close-up of Gon’s face shows sweat and fierce focus. The bottom panel focuses on a hand and a boot colliding with a heavy impact effect, debris flying.

A massive impact erupts between Gon and the tall, white-haired man in glasses and a cape. The explosion of force blasts outward as the man’s fist connects near Gon’s face, sending shockwaves and motion lines radiating across the page. Gon, spiky-haired and wearing a beaded necklace, recoils with arms raised defensively, his expression fierce yet strained. In the lower right inset panel, Gon’s face appears in close-up, eyes wide with shock and sweat flying. Large text declares, “I COULDN’T SEE HIS MOVEMENTS AT ALL!” and “SUCH SPEED!” The Hunter × Hunter logo dominates the lower left.

Gensuru stands in a small panel, glancing sideways. Gon dashes through a rocky forest clearing, motion lines trailing his feet. A close-up shows Gon’s intense face with the word “BUT…” Gon then declares, “I CAN WITHSTAND IT!!” A side profile of Gon appears beside narration explaining that in a high-speed battle he instantly switched to defense. In the forest, Gon stands facing a distant figure while narration describes him grabbing his opponent and using Kou to concentrate Nen and boost defense. Gensuru’s face appears on the right, reacting with “OH?” and “IT’S KOU!”

A furious close-up shows the tall fighter with glasses snarling, "I HATE THIS BRAT!!" In the next panels the boy Gon lunges forward with both hands extended, his body surrounded by motion lines as the opponent twists away. The tall man’s enormous foot slams down, creating radiating speed lines while a tiny distant figure of Gon stands ready. A close-up reveals Gon’s wide-eyed face streaked with sweat and motion blur as a hand wearing a ring reaches forward. The tall fighter’s voice continues, "IS ACTUALLY TAKING UP SO MUCH OF MY TIME!" and "SUCH A WEAK OPPONENT …"

Gon is struck hard; his body flies backward with a spray of blood from his mouth while Gensuru’s clawed hand remains extended. Gon crashes into the ground, crying out "GUUUH!" and "AHHH!" Gensuru stands calmly and declares he will leave the rest of Gon’s body vulnerable, putting all his Nen into the spot he grabbed. He adds that Gon’s hard work was completely wasted and calls it "SUCH A SHAME." In the background Gon is shown running desperately through rocky terrain, shouting "WHAT’S WRONG? DID YOU MISCALCULATE?" and "RIGHT THERE!"

In a rocky clearing surrounded by twisted trees, Gon stands facing his opponent. A small laugh escapes as he says, "HEHE." The spiky-haired boy tilts his head with a question mark floating above him. Gon then hunches forward, grunting "OMMPH." while repeating "WANT*" with visible strain, his body language showing intense focus. A large close-up reveals Gon's determined face, one eye narrowed, as he declares, "BISCUIT, WAS RIGHT!" The opponent, a tall man with sunglasses and a high-collared outfit, lunges forward with motion lines, shouting, "I'LL WIPE THAT SMIRK OFF YOUR FACE!" He follows with a dismissive "HMPH!" as Gon ducks low. The final wide panel shows Gon crouched defensively while the man stands ready, surrounded by impact bursts and motion lines indicating a powerful exchange of blows.

The fight intensifies as the sunglasses-wearing man grabs Gon by the arm, yelling, "I'LL SEND YOU TO HELL!" Gon counters with a fierce expression, shouting, "TAKE ANOTHER ONE!" while delivering a blow. A black starburst impact flashes. The man reacts in shock, exclaiming, "IMPOSSIBLE!?" as Gon lands another hit. Narration notes, "HE SHOULDN'T BE ABLE TO ATTACK!" and "I'VE ALREADY HIT HIM WITH A CRIPPLING BLOW." The man stares at his own fist in disbelief, marked with "!?" while Gon remains poised for the next exchange amid heavy motion lines and impact effects.

Gon stares at the rocky terrain, thinking hard. "No. Did he guess that I wouldn't use my explosion?" he wonders. In the next panel he realizes the truth. "IT WASN'T A GUESS!!" he shouts, his face intense. From the looks of him, Biscuit explains, Gensuru must have moved the Nen on his hand to the rest of his body, absorbing the damage. Gon turns away, muttering that it is just like Biscuit said that time. Biscuit continues the lesson: because Gensuru covers his hand with an aura stronger than the explosion itself, the damage never reaches him. Killua listens nearby while Biscuit finishes, "That's very simple!" Gon sits on the ground and says "Oooh." Biscuit looks thoughtful and asks why Gensuru does not hurt himself with his own explosion.

Gon looks surprised as Biscuit points at him. "I can take this opportunity to show you!" she declares. She explains that Gensuru cannot use the trick unless he has developed a huge amount of Nen, and that he uses "Kolu" to protect his hand before the explosion. Biscuit demonstrates by tapping Gon's forehead, causing a small spark. "Nice reaction, it was great Kolu," she praises. Killua watches and notes that Biscuit used less Nen the second time. Biscuit asks if Gon felt the difference. She continues that if Gensuru decides not to use Kolu he will not attack, because using the little flower technique would expose his hand. Gon sits on the ground and asks "Why?" Biscuit concludes that if Gon can tell the difference then fighting Gensuru will be a lot easier, and declares "Pass!"

Biscuit holds up two fingers and explains the key to reading the attack. "If you can tell the difference, avoiding it will be a lot easier. If he touches you, and you don't feel Kou on his hand, that means he's switching his attacks." Genthru's hand is shown covered in Nen as he confirms the observation. "Detecting my Kou? Indeed, when I want to use my explosion, I have to cover my hand with Nen." Gon stares forward with a fierce expression and shouts "SO WHAT!" Genthru's face hardens as flames erupt around his hand. "In that case... I have to use Kou to use my ability!"

Genthru spreads both hands as massive black explosion marks erupt around him. "How about both hands?" Killua's face appears in close-up, bruised and glaring. "All your preparation was a waste of time. I'll say it again..." Genthru's clawed hand is shown while he describes the technique. "If your Nen defense is incomplete, and I use 'Little Flower' to attack your face, your mouth and nose will explode, making recovery impossible. Even though gathering my aura makes my attack easy to detect, it vastly increases the inflicted damage." Two large circular panels detail the devastating effects: "Even with just a regular beating, if I hit your head, the brain will suffer extreme trauma. If I hit your body, your organs will split open and your bones will shatter. It can burn the skin off your limbs, and muscles and nerves will be totally destroyed. Close range it will break your entire body."

In a sunlit forest clearing, a small figure kneels on the ground while a tall man with glasses stands opposite, hands glowing with dangerous energy. The man warns, "You'll suffer the consequences I just described." He continues, "Even if you use Ko to defend yourself, it will not hold up against my attack." A close-up shows the man's stern face as he says, "I understand your urge to fight, but with your talent there will be plenty of chances in the future." Another voice urges, "Stop forcing yourself." The man asks, "What will you do?" and states, "The next time I attack, it'll happen exactly as I said." In a black panel his expression hardens: "Just surrender, you little shit!" The scene shifts to the kneeling boy, Gon, who thinks, "Biscuit, Killua, please forgive my nature. This is what I think. I'm sorry." His thoughts continue, "If he uses 'Little Flower' with both hands, it will be truly dangerous. For the sake of the plan, I should get ready to rendezvous..." A close-up of an arm and hand appears with the internal line, "I'm aware of that!" and "I shouldn't continue to fight..."

Gon leaps forward with a fierce expression, arm extended and finger pointing directly at the viewer. He shouts, "I've already found my answer. Then you sur- render!" Large text declares "GENSURU!" and "BECAUSE..." In smaller panels the man with glasses reacts with surprise. A voice asks, "You feel that because of the cards, I won't dare kill you?" The man replies, "Unless... What a shame." Gon runs across the forest floor while the man declares, "That in this world there are things better than death. Let me teach you!" Close-ups show feet and the man's hands igniting with flame-like energy. The man threatens, "You'd better use the hand you want to keep!" and "I'll burn off your hands first!" Gon glares back intensely amid motion lines and impact effects.

In a forest clearing lined with wooden planks and distant trees, Gon charges forward with clenched fists while Gensuru walks ahead with his back turned. Gensuru says, "FEEL FREE TO USE KOLI. AFTER THAT, I'LL BURN OFF BOTH YOUR FEET." Gon replies firmly, "I WON'T STOP ATTACKING." In close-up, Gon shouts "BRING IT ON!" and "I'M NOT SCARED OF YOU!" while Gensuru, with a fierce grin, declares "BECOME A PUNCHING DOLL!* UNTIL YOU..." A footnote explains: "*GENSURU IS REFERRING TO A TOY FIGURE THAT HAS NO LIMBS AND A LOW CENTER OF GRAVITY. NO MATTER HOW HARD YOU HIT THE TOY IT WILL ALWAYS BOUNCE BACK UP." Gensuru then answers "VERY WELL." The final panel shows Gensuru looming massively with oversized hands and crackling energy lines as Gon rushes straight toward him amid radiating speed lines.
