Morj video just proved these theories
This theory claims that new information about Conqueror's Haki strengthens two previous theories: Usopp will gain Conqueror's Haki by facing Imu, fulfilling his dream of bravery, and Akainu will awaken his Conqueror's Haki when he turns against the World Government, leading to his defeat by Luffy and Koby.
Now that we know how Conqueror's Haki is distributed, some really nice puzzle pieces suddenly fit together for two theories I already had:
-
Usopp will see himself getting killed by Imu in future sight
https://loresquare.com/one-piece/theories/ussop-will-be-killed -
The Tragic End of Akainu
https://loresquare.com/one-piece/theories/the-tragic-end-of-akainu
Also minor point for Kid and Law joining Loki theory
.
1. Why the new CoC information makes the Usopp theory much stronger
Usopp = Bravery
-
Usopp will get CoC. He is the embodiment of bravery, the same way Luffy is freedom, Zoro ambition and Sanji integrity
-
These four values together are perfect for the four CoC users of the Strawhats bc it is exactly what a true pirate should be in Oda's mind. If you do not have bravery in the mix there is obviously something missing
-
Minor extra: When Nami got sick it was mentioned that Luffy, Zoro, Sanji and Usopp never got sick (bc they are symbols, not humans)
-
And even outside the Strawhats no other character than Usopp could ever represent bravery as a CoC user, so this fundamental value would otherwise be missing in the story
-
Usopp seeing himself dying and still not running and through that unlocking his bravery CoC would be absolutely perfect
Imu is Usopp's Goliath
Especially bc it would finally bring one central inspiration of his character into the story which is David vs Goliath.
The entire reason he uses a slingshot and is connected to giants (bc many races/nations are brave, giants are not that special in that sense) is because of that connection.
But weirdly, in all of his fights this never really was a thing. You would think many of his fights would embrace at least visually a David vs Goliath angle, but Oda never really designed his enemies that way.
And now I think the reason is obvious: The only perfect Goliath that cannot be topped is Imu.
So in facing Goliath, Usopp finally achieves his dream and becomes his true brave self, thus gaining CoC.
Sanji's obvious CoC reveal might actually be intentional
This would also explain the baffling writing for Sanji's CoC reveal:
WHY IS IT ALREADY SO OBVIOUS?
If Oda played his cards differently then it could be a mindblowing reveal instead of Sanji randomly just asking a dude and then a few chapters later everyone obviously knows it will happen.
So if this was the only CoC reveal in Elbaph it would honestly be a missed opportunity in terms of shock.
But if Usopp is revealed as a CoC user in a surprising twist, it makes total sense, since having that kind of shocking reveal twice would not work as brilliantly.
So here is my updated prediction
Usopp sees his death in future sight while protecting Luffy. He knows exactly what is going to happen, but still does not run.
Through that he finally becomes truly brave, unlocks bravery CoC and fulfills his dream.
Then Luffy saves him because Luffy also saw everything in the future and got a major boost to his own ACoC, ultimately driving Imu off.
.
2. Why the new CoC information makes the Akainu theory fit even better
Akainu's CoC can only awaken when his justice finally becomes "absolute"
First of all, if Akainu has CoC, then it is obviously the "Absolute Justice" type.
And that means there is only one precise moment when he can awaken it:
When he turns on Imu and the World Government.
He is obviously not happy with at least some of what the government does, but he still does their bidding.
So this cannot possibly be someone who just recently at some point awakened his Absolute Justice CoC.
That shit is not absolute, that's occasional.
What WOULD be a moment of finally being true to ABSOLUTE justice is stopping to accept injustice even when it comes from authority.
So if you think Akainu will awaken CoC (I am not even sure he will), it can only really happen then, right before getting Domi Reversied.
Oppression + Propaganda vs Freedom + Honesty
Now to the main point:
The two fundamental problems with the Marines and the World Government are oppression and propaganda.
And symbolically the two characters that perfectly oppose those things are:
-
Luffy = Freedom
-
Koby = Honesty
So Akainu being defeated by Luffy and Koby together would basically mean Freedom and Honesty defeating Oppression and Propaganda.
This is also why I think Oda created Koby as a symbol of honesty from the very beginning.
Bc let's be real, honesty on its own is kind of a lame defining trait for one of the first characters ever introduced, especially considering that it has not been all that relevant to the story until now.
But if the final conflict of the Marines is fundamentally about propaganda and people blindly accepting the World Government's version of truth, suddenly Koby representing honesty becomes extremely important.
I genuinely cannot think of any other two traits that together would better represent what is needed to defeat what is wrong with the Marines. And there is no better ending for Koby.
So Luffy and Koby it is 100%.
Small powerscaling sidenote
Minor point but powerscaling-wise Koby is kinda fodder compared to Akainu but also has insane max. one-hit output.
So it is almost like his power was designed for him to be absolutely destroyed by Akainu but still be able to meaningfully contribute to the final attack defeating him.
And second powerscaling point specifically for Morj:
You misread what I was saying about Luffy fighting Akainu.
There will not be a close match.
Give that dude ACoC, give him Domi Reversi, give him the freaking Fishman drugs, I don't care, that dude is not doing shit to EOS Luffy.
I said it will be interesting emotionally, both for Luffy and for Akainu, not in terms of the actual fight.
The Bellamy parallel
The parallel here is Luffy vs Bellamy in Dressrosa and I think it could not be more on the nose.
Bellamy was conflicted bc he willingly joined Doflamingo and did what he wanted.
He slowly realized and came to terms with the fact that he chose the wrong leader to follow.
He was literally completely controlled by Doflamingo, a Celestial Dragon and obvious Imu stand-in, until a morally conflicted Luffy easily defeated and freed him.
That is basically exactly what I think will happen with Akainu.
Akainu willingly chose to serve the World Government.
He slowly realizes that the organization he dedicated himself to does not represent the justice he believes in.
He finally turns against them.
Then Imu literally takes away his free will through Domi Reversi.
And Luffy has to defeat him and free him.
Also this is where this other character finally becomes relevant
This Akainu fight also fits perfectly with the story of the Marines in general.
The good Marines will be completely losing the battle against the bad Marines until one final decision is made that overturns the greatest flaw that even the good Marines still have.
And that flaw is personified by none other than SMOKER.
Smoker will finally convince the good Marines to work together with good pirates in order to defeat the bad, possibly Domi Reversied, Marines.
That finally fulfills the character arc he has had from the very start.
He was created for this exact moment in the first place.
His entire character is about slowly learning that:
Marine does not automatically mean good.
Pirate does not automatically mean bad.
After that decision, the good Marines and good pirates together defeat the bad Marines, Luffy and Koby defeat Akainu and the entire Marine storyline has come to a close.
We now have a final group of good Marines that overcame their one big flaw of seeing pirates and Marines as black and white and they can go on as the police after the Dawn.

3. One extra thought on Kid and Law joining Loki
If you cannot imagine Kid ever being someone's subordinate, then you are proving my point!
Guess who would also never normally be someone's subordinate?
Fucking Zoro.
This is exactly what makes a Pirate King special.
Someone who would normally never follow anybody willingly chooses to follow you.
And this is often pointed out in the story and in your own videos, Morj.
So to me the argument that Kid would never become someone's subordinate does not hurt the theory at all.
It actually makes the Kid/Zoro parallel stronger.
