In a close-up, Luffy and Franky grapple violently. Franky yells with a furious face, "CALM DOWN! MORIA ISN'T HERE!" while Luffy, teeth gritted and eyes blazing, shouts back, "THAT BASTARD! MAKING MY SHADOW..." Impact lines and a large "ガッ" SFX emphasize their struggle. In the next panel Zoro staggers forward with wide eyes, declaring, "THIS IS AN EERIE FEELING..." and "MY SHADOW IS GONE!!!!" as impact lines burst around him; he adds, "... NO... IT WASN'T A DREAM." Sanji stands with his back to the group and explains the situation: "BECAUSE WE HAVE ONLY LARGE QUANTITIES OF FOOD WITH US, THEY ONLY LEFT THE PRESERVED FOOD BEHIND AND TOOK EVERYTHING ELSE." Luffy collapses dramatically, wailing, "CHEESE AND CRACKERS AREN'T ENOUGH TO FILL ME UP!!! I WANT MEEEEEEAT!!!" while Usopp cowers nearby. Sanji continues, "With only cheese... we just can't..." Zoro clutches his head in frustration, growling, "MAN, HOW DISHONORABLE... I'VE LET MY GUARD DOWN...!!" Sanji glances around and asks, "BY THE WAY, I DON'T SEE NAMI ANYWHERE...I" as the crew realizes their lunchboxes are also missing.

A massive close-up shows Sanji's furious face as he roars, "I'M SORRY!!!! BUT THE CIRCUMSTANCES MADE IT LIKE THAT, NOT ME...!!!! ANYWAY, PLEASE LISTEN TO THE WHOLE STORY!!!" while dramatic speed lines and an enormous "どんっ" SFX dominate the panel. Off to the side, someone shouts, "KID-NAP-PEDI!I WHY THE HELL DIDN'T YOU CHASE THE KIDNAPPER TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTHI!I WHO IN THE WORLD DID IT!I I'LL GET HER BACK IMMEDIATELY!!!" In a calmer interior scene, the crew discusses priorities: "ER... ONE OF THOSE ISN'T A PRIORITY. IN THE MEANTIME, LET'S FOCUS ON 'NAMI' AND OUR 'SHADOWS.'" "OUR 'SHADOWS' TOO, RIGHTI THAT MAKES IT THREE." "NAMI!" "FOOD!" Usopp, wearing his goggles, stresses, "OKAY, LISTEN! THERE ARE TWO IMPORTANT THINGS WE CAN'T AFFORD NOT TO GET BACK." The final wide panel reveals the devastated Going Merry with broken masts and scattered debris; characters react in shock with "WHA..." and "WHAT THE!!I" as the ruined ship looms against a stormy sky.

Usopp points at Luffy and declares, "IN THAT CASE, WE KNOW THE IDENTITIES OF LUFFY AND THE COOK, RIGHTI" Luffy explodes in rage, "AND I'M A BEHEMOTHI THEY CAN CREATE A ZOMBIE JUST LIKE THATI HE MUST HAVE SOME BALLS TO MARRY NAMI. AND... SHIT! I'LL NEVER PERMIT IT! MARRIAGE ~~~~!I ARE YOU SHITTING ME~~~!I" In the next row, Usopp recalls, "I SAW ZORO'S ZOMBIE!!" while Luffy reacts with shock. Sanji questions, "HUHI THEN IF THE ZOMBIE DOESN'T LOOK IDENTICAL TO THE REAL PERSON..." Chopper cries out, "YOU GUYS DIDN'T KNOWI SUDDENLY I'VE BEEN ENGULFED IN FEAR!! IT... IT WAS ONE OF THE SHICHIBUKAI...!!" Sanji continues, "IF WE THROW SALT IN THE MOUTHS OF THOSE THREE ZOMBIES... WE'LL REGAIN OUR SHADOWS, RIGHTI" Luffy replies, "WHATEVER. IT'S OKAY NOW." Franky adds, "HE GAVE OUT A FAMILIAR AURA AND HAD THE SAME EQUIPMENT AS YOU. I KNEW IT WASN'T YOU, THOUGH." Usopp asks, "WHAT DID IT LOOK LIKEI"

Luffy reacts with shock, "WHAT!I YOU MET BROOK!I" The crew explains the encounter: "... AND CAME TO GET YOU GUYS FIRST. IT WAS THE SKELETON GUY WHO TOLD US ABOUT THEIR WEAKNESS. ANYWAY, GOOD JOB FINDING THEIR WEAKNESS." Further panels show the group discussing Brook: "AFTER TALKING TO HIM... EVEN THOUGH HE'S A FRAIL SKELETON... NOT A SKELETON'S... HE HAD BONES." "NO... SINCE THE MOMENT YOU WANTED TO MAKE HIM A COMRADE OF OURS... AND THEN I ASKED HIM A RATHER RUDE QUESTION... YEAH..." "... I'VE DENIED THE COMPLETENESS OF HIS EXISTENCE." In the large bottom panel, a crew member shouts, "WHILE WE'RE STILL TALKING... ANSWER MY QUESTION. WAIT A SECOND! HE'S A REAL MAN!!!"

Franky stares at the skeleton with the massive afro. "...WITH SUCH A DISGUSTING BEINGI YOU'LL BE STAINED WITH SHAME!" a voice exclaims. "A TALKING SKELETON...I BECOMING FRIENDS..." another reacts in shock. Brook replies from the side, "...YOU KNOW HOW THEY'LL REACT... DON'T YOUI IF YOU GO IN FRONT OF PEOPLE WITH THAT APPEARANCE..." Franky mutters, "FRANKY, WHAT'RE YOU TRYING TO..." and trails off with "...". The long-haired man with the scar glares intensely. "YOU SAID, 'I'M LONELIER THAN DEATH,' DIDN'T YOUI" he recalls. "IF I WERE YOU, I'D HAVE GIVEN UP LONG AGO!" he continues. "EVEN IF YOU GET OUT OF THIS EVIL SEA... YOU'LL FOLLOW THE SAME FATE AS THOSE YEARS OF DESPAIR YOU WASTED HERE," he warns. Franky stands with his back turned, jacket marked by a star. "CONTINUING TO LIVE LIKE THAT... TELL US ABOUT THE 'PROMISE YOU MADE TO YOUR NAKAMA'!" he demands. Brook answers, "LIVING SUCH A SIMPLE LIFE AND ACTING FROM TIME TO TIME LIKE A GENTLEMAN. DON'T HIDE THE 'VITAL PART' FROM US...!!!" as the skeleton's face looms close.

Brook walks ahead down the corridor. "...NAKAMA BEHIND. IT WAS A HARD DECISION FOR US..." he says. "IT'S VERY SIMPLE... LONG AGO... OUR PIRATE CREW LEFT ONE OF OUR..." he continues. "YOU SURE DON'T CARE ABOUT TIMING. YOHOHO..." he adds with a laugh. Franky stands with his back to the viewer, gripping his weapon. "AND THEN, WE WERE ANNIHILATED IN THIS OCEAN. WE COULDN'T KEEP THE PROMISE WE MADE WITH HIM!" he recounts. "WE PROMISED TO DEFINITELY COME BACK TO THAT PLACE. WE DEPARTED WITH OUR SHIP," Brook replies. Brook clenches his fists tightly. "SINCE THE DAY WE DIED, I THINK IT'S BEEN 50 YEARS BY NOW," he states. "THIS 'RESULT' WAS MY 'OBLIGATION' TOWARD HIM!" he declares. "I STAYED BEHIND AND CONTINUED LIVING ON THIS SHIP ALL ALONE," he finishes. Nico Robin watches silently from the side with a neutral expression.

Brook's skull face stares forward as he reflects on Laboon. "I WONDER WHY... HE'S MOST LIKELY NOT WAITING THERE. AND HE HAS EVERY RIGHT TO GIVE UP." A voice continues, "BUT, BY ANY CHANCE, WHAT IF HE BELIEVED IN OUR PROMISE... AND IS STILL WAITINGI" The long-haired man with the chain necklace reacts in shock. "50 YEARSI! HEY! IT'S REALLY SUCH AN OLD STORY!I I WASN'T EVEN BORN BACK THEN." Brook replies, "SORRY, BUT EVEN THAT GUY COULDN'T HAVE WAITED THAT LONG..." The scene shifts to a ruined tower overlooking the sea. "WHAT IF HE'S WAITING EVEN NOWI HOW MISERABLE HE MUST BE FEELING!!" "CAN YOU IMAGINE HOW LONELY HE'D BE NOW!I HE MUST BE THINKING THAT HE'S BEEN BETRAYED BY US, HIS NAKAMA." In a close-up, Brook's empty eye sockets fill the frame. "... LABOON." The long-haired man stares intensely. "YOU... THE NAME OF OUR NAKAMA, WHOM WE SWORE TO REUNITE WITH ON THAT COAST, IS..."

Brook continues imagining Laboon's growth. "I CAN ONLY IMAGINE HOW BIG HE'S BECOME BY NOW...!!!" A massive whale surfaces with a "BLUOOO!!!" and musical notes as the Going Merry sails nearby. "WE'LL DEFINITELY COME BACK!" Brook adds, "THERE WAS NO WAY WE COULD TAKE A LITTLE WHALE ON OUR DANGEROUS JOURNEY..." The crew reacts with cheers and music. "... AND WOULD COME BACK BY WAVING OUR HANDS." "HE'D THINK WE'D PLAY OUR CHEERFUL MUSIC LIKE ALWAYS..." "I CAN'T HELP BUT THINK HE ALWAYS BELIEVED WE'D COME BACK." "BLUOOOO!" Franky stands with the others. "... INDEED. YOUR NAKAMA WAS A 'WHALE'!!" Robin stands with a tearful expression. "SNIFF!!" A large caption declares, "DEATH DOESN'T COUNT AS AN APOLOGY!" Brook concludes, "I THINK HE'D YELL AT THE DISTANT SKIES FOR US MAKING SUCH A SELFISH PROMISE. I DON'T THINK HE'D EVER FORGIVE US FOR DYING IN VAIN."

A massive impact shatters the scene as debris flies outward. A voice declares, "BECAUSE A MAN PROMISED TO HIM THAT HE'D DEFINITELY COME BACK!!!" Luffy stares in shock, sweat on his face, and whispers, "Laboon..." Crocus stands with his back to the group as the others watch in silence. Robin's eyes widen in realization. "And so he's..." she says. A close-up shows Crocus's intense, sweating face with a single word: "...!!" Sanji reacts with surprise, "Ah..." while Usopp and Chopper look on. Someone asks, "HeI" Crocus's face twists in anguish as he shouts, "IS THIS FOR REALI" The group processes the revelation. "He's..." another voice trails off. Zoro stands firm, sweat on his brow, replying with a quiet "..."

Luffy yells in disbelief, ".....!I WHAT!I WHAT'RE YOU SAYING!I" Crocus points dramatically while explaining the history. A massive whale head bursts through the wall with a thunderous "BUOOOOOO!!!" The creature's enormous jaws open wide, revealing rows of teeth and a lighthouse visible inside its mouth. Narration recounts, "'The two capes,' at the entrance to the 'Grand Line,' he kept banging his head on the wall that divides the world. The damn whale was there." Robin adds quietly, "...waiting 50 years is..." and recalls, "'We'll definitely come back!' for those nakama who made that promise..." Luffy stares up in awe, sweat flying, and exclaims, "IT'S NOT A MOUNTAIN! IT'S A WHALE!" The crew confirms, "WE KNOW..." as the giant whale looms over Reverse Mountain. Luffy finishes with a stunned, "...THAT WHALE!"

In the dimly lit hall, voices recount the past. "HE'S STILL ALIVE NOW, WAITING FOR HIS NAKAMA AT THAT CAPE!" one explains. Another continues, "LUFFY SOMEHOW PERSUADED HIM TO STOP ACTING SUICIDAL BY BREAKING THROUGH THE WALL..." A third voice adds, "... HE DIDN'T ACCEPT THAT AND TRIED TO BREAK THROUGH. THEN HE HEARD THAT THE PIRATES RAN AWAY..." A massive "BLUOO!!!" erupts from the cape as Laboon slams into the Red Line. Zoro stands with a serious expression, thinking, "TO THINK... THAT ONE OF THOSE NAKAMA WHOM LABOON WAS WAITING FOR..." Luffy bursts out laughing, "THAT'S AN UNBELIEVABLE STORY! THEY KEPT THAT PROMISE FOR OVER 50 YEARS!" Suddenly the scene shifts to a fierce clash inside a stone corridor. The skeleton swordsman and his opponent cross blades with explosive force. Large impact SFX "キンギン!!" and "チキィン!!" ring out as both fighters shout "HAA" amid flying sparks and debris. Someone yells, "THAT SKELETON!"

The skeleton swordsman presses the attack. "WAH!" his opponent cries as massive impact lines and "ドキン!!" SFX fill the panel. The skeleton laughs, "YOHOHO... YOU'VE BECOME STRONGER IN THE PASSING YEARS. THOUGH, THE SAME APPLIES TO ME!" He continues, "BECAUSE WE THINK ALIKE!" Their blades clash violently again, sending the opponent flying backward with "UWAH...!!!" and more "ガキィン!!" sounds. Close-ups show the skeleton's grinning skull face and the opponent's bandaged, scarred features. The skeleton taunts, "WITH A WEAK POINT THAT BIG, THERE'S NO WAY YOU CAN AVOID IT BEING HIT! LIKE ALWAYS, YOU CHERISH YOUR AFRO." The opponent grits out "HAA" repeatedly while recoiling from the strikes.

Brook clashes violently with the undead swordsman in a flurry of strikes. The skeleton pirate shouts across the battlefield, "...DO YOU STILL... LABOON..." as their blades lock. The opponent roars "SILENCE!" while swinging his sword. Brook laughs defiantly, "YOHO—!" and presses the attack. In the chaos he reflects, "THE GRAND LINE IS STILL INDOMITABLE DESPITE ALL MY POWER." He continues, "WHEN I THINK ABOUT HOW YOU MUST FEEL, MY CHEST STARTS TO HURT—EVEN THOUGH I NO LONGER HAVE A HEART NOW!...REMEMBER USI" The swordsman counters with heavy blows as Brook yells "YOHOHOHO!!!" and "YOO!" The fight intensifies with rapid exchanges and impact lines. Brook recalls, "AFTER LOSING THEM, I'VE LOST MY FACE AND BODY, TOO." The opponent retorts, "ALL OF OUR NAKAMA... HAVE DIED BY NOW."

Brook continues the desperate duel, declaring "I'VE NOTHING LEFT." The swordsman lunges, "WAH! STOP! LEAVE THE AFRO ALONE!!" while Brook spins away yelling "YOHOHO!" The opponent warns, "...YOU WOULDN'T EVEN RECOGNIZE ME IN THIS FORM. IF WE HAPPEN TO MEET AGAIN..." Brook refuses to yield, shouting "I'LL PROTECT AT LEAST THIS VESTIGE ALONE!" and "UWAH!" as he blocks a powerful strike. He adds, "AT LEAST... THEY SAID THIS HEAD MADE YOU LAUGH!" The swordsman presses forward with "I WANT YOU TO WAIT FOR ME, AT THE PROMISED CAPE...!!!" Brook answers with fierce determination, "BECAUSE I'LL DEFINITELY COME TO SEE YOU!" Their swords clash again amid swirling motion lines and debris.

Luffy roars with wild enthusiasm, arms flung wide as he declares his intent. "EVEN IF I HAVE TO DRAG HIM, I'LL GET HIM TO BOARD THIS SHIP!! I'LL MAKE HIM ONE OF OUR NAKAMA!!! DOES ANYONE HAVE AN OBJECTION!I" Brook's massive form looms behind him, the skeleton musician wailing "UWAAAH ~~~~~!!!" while Luffy continues, "UWAAA~!!! I'M ALL PUMPED UP!! HE'S A MUSICIAN!! HE'S A TALKING SKELETON!! HE HAS AN AFRO!! AND YOHOHO!! AND HE'S LABOON'S NAKAMA!!!" Earlier outbursts fill the top panels: "SHUT THE HELL UP!!!" and "I LOVE BOTH THE BONE GUY AND THE WHALE!!!" The crew reacts in the lower panels. Usopp shouts, "HELL YEAH! I CONCUR AS WELL!!!! I'M NOT SCARED OF SKELETONS!!!" Another voice yells, "I CONCUR, DAMNIT!!!" Chopper cries, "I WANT TO MEET HIM! HE'S LABOON'S...!!" Nami smiles slyly with "FUFU..." and asks, "EVEN IF WE OBJECT, WOULD THAT CHANGE YOUR OPINIONI"

Zoro stands on the deck of the massive ship, swords at his side, as voices call out. "WHERE ARE YOU GOINGI" "ZORO!!" Sanji snarls nearby, "...WE HAVE TO STOP NAMI'S WEDDING, DAMNIT!!! BEFORE SOMETHING THAT OBVIOUS..." Luffy bursts in with a massive grin, "SHISHISHI!!!" A close-up shows Zoro's intense profile as he states, "THE NUMBER OF SHADOWS WE HAVE TO RETRIEVE HAS JUST INCREASED, HASN'T ITI I'LL SET FOOT ON LAND." The bottom spread reveals the towering Thriller Bark castle under attack, with the Straw Hats charging forward. Luffy shouts, "WE'LL BLOW THE CRAP OUT OF THRILLER BARK!" Sanji yells, "ALL RIGHT, YOU GUYS!!! START PREPARATIONS FOR A COUNTER-ATTACK!!!" A flag waves with "MARCH ON!" and "YOU TOO, IDIOT!!" The page ends with the volume credit: "47 VOLUME 47 (END)".
