Ivankov describes how New Kama Land survives inside Impel Down. All the candies here are prisoners who got lost and found one of the many entrances by sheer luck: in a raging fire, in the graveyard, in the needle pit dripping with blood, in the beasts' den. These entrances let them obtain supplies. No guards have noticed because nobody imagines a paradise could exist in hell. They have camera Den Den Mushi like the monitor room, steal newspapers from the trash, and gather information from all over the world, making the first intruder Luffy and Bon Clay a great show for them.

Bon Clay asks where exactly they are and why there is so much space. Ivankov explains that this space was not always here; long ago a prisoner with the digging ability was held here and created it, like ants digging into a giant boulder. The place is located directly between Levels 5 and 6. Bon Clay is stunned to learn Level 6 exists. Iva says most people do not know about it: prisoners there are either on death row or serving life sentences in Level 6, Infinite Hell, for inhuman crimes covered up by the government.

Ivankov says Level 6 also contains criminals whose crimes were too inconvenient for the government to acknowledge. He adds that if Bon Clay had gone there earlier during his rampage, it would not have been so easy, because Impel Down has one more person of immense strength: the Head Guard. Shiryu of the Rain is said to be on par with Warden Magellan, and if Magellan is temporarily out of commission, the one to really worry about is Shiryu. Iva calls Magellan and Shiryu the backbone of Impel Down's impregnable walls.

In a dark corridor, Magellan confronts Shiryu. He says, "The prisoners aren't just here for your amusement, Shiryu!!!" Shiryu answers, "Who cares... If I cut down this trash...?" The scene establishes that Shiryu massacred many prisoners for no apparent reason, was labeled a dangerous threat, and was imprisoned on Level 6. Ivankov, back in New Kama Land, explains he had not even heard of this before he was captured. Ivankov tells Bon Clay that there are even people on Level 6 who did such unspeakable things they no longer appear in newspapers and are now only legends. Bon Clay remembers Crocodile and asks whether he and the Strawhat boy were enemies in Alabasta. Iva says their relationship is interesting, and adds that Crocodile, Luffy's former boss, is down there too and not happy. He names Captain Portgas D. Ace of the Whitebeard Pirates' 2nd Squad as the man Strawhat is after, and Jimbei, the Knight of the Sea, as another Level 6 prisoner. The guards said Ace and Luffy are brothers.

Ivankov accepts that Luffy came all this way to save Ace, but says Luffy must worry about his own life first. It is already past midnight, and Ace's public execution is scheduled for 3 p.m., so the Marines will need to move him to Marine Headquarters in the morning. Ivankov estimates that in another seven or eight hours, Ace will be taken out of Impel Down. Even if Luffy survives, it will take two more days to heal from the poison and then another three days of sleep to recover his strength, making the rescue schedule nearly impossible.

Seven hours later, the cheering continues in New Kama Land, while on Level 6, Ace is told that he should not believe what the woman said about Luffy dying to save him.
