Chapter 685 summary
Luffy faces the small dragon in the basement trash can and recognizes him as Momonosuke. Momonosuke denies any prior connection and insists he is no food while Luffy mistakes his speech for farts and questions how he became a dragon. Through flashback Momonosuke recounts stowing away on a ship, refusing food from the other children, entering the secret room, and accidentally eating Vegapunk's failed artificial Devil Fruit that transformed him. He reveals that Caesar plans to kill all the children with his experiments once their bodies fail. Luffy declares they will escape together and orders Momonosuke to grab on as the dragon suddenly flies them upward through the shaft. Elsewhere Usopp, Kin'emon, and Brook search for seastone cuffs while Law and Smoker battle Vergo in the S.A.D. production room. In B-Block, Nami, Sanji, Tashigi, and the G-5 Marines push the children toward the biscuit room ahead of the approaching gas.
