Doctor Hogback

Doctor Hogback towers in the center of introductions with a dramatic wide stance and arms spread wide. He wears a fishnet bodysuit, leather straps, fur collar and mask while standing under radiating spotlights. His mask shows a wide open laughing mouth and single visible eye. A large rectangular sign beside him reads Master of the mansion (Genius Surgeon) DOCTOR HOGBACK. Later depictions show him with wild hair, striped coat, stitched face, cross scar and horns during intense moments.12

Hogback appears in close-up with wide open mouth and intense expression during declarations. He stands with hands on hips wearing a cape and top hat while small bat-like zombies hover nearby. His face fills large panels with wild expression and jagged teeth visible in laughter. Hogback looms with massive stitched right arm raised high, checkered hat, bow tie and wide open mouth in confrontations.34

Doctor Hogback delivers theatrical self-introduction as genius with repeated FOS laugh in boastful mood. He welcomes groups into the mansion with open invitation and addresses questions with theatrical gesture. Hogback reacts dramatically to requests for lab access by looming forward with fierce glare and shouting refusal. He laughs maniacally while breaking through walls and declares his work is art and a genius's creation.56

Hogback expresses horror at Cindry's violent words with dramatic tone and questions her statements about hoping procedures fail. He pleads with Cindry to serve pudding on a dish and grant one wish while sprawled on the floor. Hogback complains that Cindry makes stories worse by answering first and points accusingly at her during discussions. He celebrates successful awakenings of giant zombies with triumphant laughter.78

Doctor Hogback creates specialized strings from spider mice that bind targets from blind spots and cannot be cut by ordinary human strength. These underlings number five hundred throughout Thriller Bark and allow capture without sound by dropping from ceilings. He also modifies bodies such as Absalom's with combined animal traits including lion jaw, elephant skin, and condensed muscular strength from bear and gorilla sources alongside the Suke Suke Fruit ability.910

Hogback performs repairs on large zombie bodies such as Oars and identifies frostbite damage around joints from ancient wounds. He enhances physical strength in subjects like Cindry for combat purposes through external commands and body remodeling that allows movement only under his direction.1112

Doctor Hogback recognizes Chopper's Devil Fruit ability and states he will not let Chopper escape now that he is here. Chopper initially viewed Hogback positively as a doctor but later rejects his identity as a doctor and confronts him about ethics of zombie creation. Hogback mocks Chopper by offering to turn him into a zombie named Mario and declares intent to zombify Chopper after his death.1617

Doctor Hogback faces direct confrontation from Chopper in beast form inside the grand hall after ordering Cindry to attack. He is physically overpowered and thrown across the area while attempting to direct zombies and claiming superiority in medical knowledge. The fight ends with Hogback recoiling from strikes and demanding salt from Robin amid the chaos of betrayals by controlled corpses.1218

Hogback is crushed under debris and a massive weight during Oars rampage after the giant zombie awakens. He screams for Cindry to clear rubble while declaring himself a prodigy who will be smashed and later gets trampled as the creature moves. This incident occurs after he had celebrated the successful insertion of Luffy's shadow into the prepared body.1920
