Toto
Toto is a townsman of Yuba who recognizes Princess Vivi despite her disguise and altered appearance. He maintains unwavering loyalty to King Cobra and works to prevent the rebels from destroying the country. Toto founded the town of Yuba at the king's request and continues restoring its oasis through persistent digging even after repeated sandstorms. He is known for his emotional reunion with Vivi, his arguments with Luffy over excavation methods, and his survival of Crocodile's sandstorm that threatened to bury the settlement.
Toto's actions span from his youth in Alubarna through the founding of Yuba and into the present conflicts involving the Straw Hat crew. He offers shelter to visitors, pleads for intervention against the rebels, and provides vital water to Luffy during a critical fight. His determination ensures Yuba remains a key location despite environmental hardships.
Appearance
Toto wears a turban along with a mustache and maintains a stern expression while holding a shovel as his primary accessory. His older appearance includes a headwrap and beard visible during moments of reassurance and farewell. Sweat drops and motion lines frequently accompany his reactions to mentions of the rebels or unexpected visitors.12
During emotional scenes Toto displays tears and reaches forward with an open hand while his face shows disbelief with wide eyes. In the village setting he smiles while speaking with a woman carrying a basket. Later depictions show him leaning from a window with a wide smile and closed eyes.13
Personality
Toto holds a lasting belief that the king would never betray the country and pleads for assistance to stop the rebels whom he describes as out of their minds. He demonstrates determination by choosing to travel to Yuba despite his father's suggestion to stay behind and vows to build a town that improves the country.45
Toto accepts full responsibility for his son's actions and offers ritual suicide to atone when brought before the king. He reassures others not to worry and continues digging to restore the oasis because the land was specially entrusted to him by the king.67
