What happens in chapter 100

A mysterious cloaked man with a diamond tattoo on his face stands in the rain and remarks that a pirate is fine too. Buggy rallies his crew to flee the marines but Smoker engulfs them in smoke, captures them in a net, and rides off on his Billower Bike. Usopp and Nami reach the Going Merry where Usopp knocks out Mohji while Richie the lion remains.

WHAT'S WITH THIS SMOKE!I" A massive explosion of smoke erupts with the sound effect "ボォウン!!!" as bodies fly everywhere. Buggy Pirates tumble through the air, one crying "GYAAA!" A marine shouts "DAMN THAT SMOKER!" while another adds "WE'VE ALL BEEN ROUNDED UP, CAP'N!" Tashigi reacts in shock: "S-SO STRONG! SO THAT'S THE MOKU MOKU DEVIL FRUIT ABILITY...!" Smoker speeds down the street on his massive three-wheeled Billower Bike with roaring engine SFX "ゴォオオオオ" and tire spin "ギャリリリ!". A voice panics "EVEN THOUGH I'M SUPPOSED TO BE BURNING THIS SHIP DOWN RIGHT NOW...!" and questions "WHY!I WHY DOES THERE HAVE TO BE A DOWNPOUR NOW OF ALL TIMES!I" with SFX "ゴォオオオオ". Richie the lion roars "GRRR" while Mohji yells "HEY YOU! GET AWAY FROM THAT BOAT!" Smoker appears, shouting "THIS IS BAD, RICHIE! WE CAN'T START A FIRE LIKE THIS!" with his weapon making "CHK CHK CHK!" sounds. In the next panels, a figure leaps as someone yells "HM!I WHO'S THAT!I" with impact SFX "つるん!!" and motion lines.

Roronoa Zoro strides down the Loguetown street with his swords at his side. A voice cries out, "RORONOA ZORO!" Nearby, Sgt. Major Tashigi gasps, "AH!" with a heart-shaped bubble. Tashigi confronts him, shouting, "YOU INTEND TO TAKE THIS SWORD TOOI" and "YOU WERE JUST TOYING WITH ME ALL ALONG!" She adds, "DOES THAT MEAN... TO THINK THAT YOU WERE RORONOA ZORO! AND A PIRATE AT THAT, TOO!" Zoro replies coolly, "...JUST TRY IT." Tashigi declares, "I SHALL TAKE BACK THAT WADO ICHIMONJI!" Enraged, she yells, "YOU BASTARD! WHAT DID YOU DO TO THAT LADY!I" and "NEVER THOUGHT YOU WERE A MARINE..." Zoro smirks, "SGT. MAJOR TASHIGI!" while Luffy watches from the background with a question mark overhead.

Zoro swings his swords while Luffy watches the fierce exchange. Tashigi smirks, "HEH." From afar, onlookers remark, "STILL NO SIGHT OF'EM." and "I WONDER IF THEY'RE ALL RIGHTI" Waves crash higher as someone shouts, "THE WAVES ARE CRASHING HIGHER AND HIGHER! Zoro retorts, "YOUR FACE IS EXACTLY LIKE MY FRIEND WHO DIED LONG AGO!" and "IT'S YOUR DAMN EXISTENCE THAT BOTHERS ME, NOT YOUR GENDER!" In the rainy streets of Loguetown, Smoker stands alone as rain pours down. A voice calls out, "STRAW HAT LUFFY." Smoker turns slightly and says, "SO YOU'VE COME." Nearby townspeople notice the commotion: "SOMEONE'S UP AHEAD!" "ANOTHER ONEI" Smoker faces Luffy directly in close-up, declaring, "I'M A CAPTAIN OF THE MARINE HEAD-QUARTERS. THE NAME'S SMOKER." Luffy stares in shock and yells, "WHO'RE YOU!I" Without hesitation, Smoker transforms his lower body into billowing white smoke and launches a powerful strike, shouting, "AND I WON'T ALLOW YOU TO SET SAIL FROM HERE!" The impact sends smoke exploding outward as Luffy is hurled back.

Smoker presses the attack, smoke swirling violently around Luffy. Luffy shouts, "WHY YOU..." as he is slammed by the dense white cloud. "W-W-WHAT!I" he cries in surprise. "AHH!" Luffy yells as another blow lands with a loud "バフッ!!" Smoker glares coldly and states, "FREAK OF NATURE!" In a flash, Luffy stretches his rubber body and counters with a spinning kick, the impact marked by massive "ゴクッ...!!" sound effects. Smoker remains unfazed and replies, "I DON'T HAVE TIME FOR RUNTS." Tashigi appears at his side, her glasses reflecting light as she glares and exclaims, "WHAT!I"

Luffy is sent flying through the air by another smoke blast. He calls out desperately, "SANJI!" while yelling, "WHY YOU...!" Smoker unleashes his technique with the words "WHITE BLOW!" Luffy stretches his arm back and fires, shouting, "GOMU GOMU PISTOL!" The rubber fist rockets forward and connects. In the next moment Luffy stares in disbelief, asking, "ARE YOU REALLY WORTH 30 MILLION BELI!I" Smoker, unfazed, simply exhales smoke and mutters, "HUHI" as more smoke drifts from his body.

The fight intensifies as Smoker grabs Luffy mid-air. Luffy yells "GRAB" while twisting his body. Smoker is struck hard, grunting "AGHH!" and "DOOF!" as he is slammed down with a loud "ベチャッ!!" Recovering, Smoker reaches out again and says, "HMPH, LOOKS LIKE YOUR LUCK'S COME TO AN END. OR PERHAPS NOT...I" Luffy reacts with wide-eyed surprise marked by "!!!I" and "!I" as the two continue their fierce exchange of blows amid swirling smoke and motion lines.

In a rain-soaked Loguetown street, Smoker lies sprawled on the ground, his jitte fallen beside him. A towering figure in a black cloak looms over him, one hand raised. Smoker growls, "YOU'RE...!" A massive question mark bubbles above his head. The cloaked man's face fills the next panel, revealing a stitched X-shaped scar across his left eye as dramatic speed lines emphasize his presence. RUN FOR IT OR WE'LL BE TRAPPED ON THIS ISLAND!" a fish-man-like crewmate screams, "A HUGE-ASS STORM'S COMING IN!" Another panel shows the cloaked man grabbing at the wind while a crewmate cries "AGHHHHH!" LOOK AT ALL THIS RAIN!" while another crewmate warns, "HURRY UP! THIS ROPE WON'T HOLD FOR MUCH LONGER!" Luffy calls out. Sanji states, "I'LL GO TO GRAND LINE AS WELL." Smoker, bandaged and furious, growls, "I'M CONTINUING MY PURSUIT FOR STRAW HAT. TAKE OUT OUR SHIP." Marines apologize, "FORGIVE US, SIR! AND I STILL HAVE TO SETTLE THINGS WITH THAT RUBBER BRAT." Alvida stands nearby with arms crossed as the crew reacts. Someone exclaims, "YES, NOW'S A GOOD TIME." A sudden realization hits: "G... The Going Merry sails through rough seas toward a towering lighthouse. Nami notes, "IT'S KNOWN AS THE 'LIGHT OF GUIDANCE.'" The crew spots the beacon: "YOU SEE THAT LIGHT OVER THEREI" "YAHOO! THE SHIP FEELS LIKE IT'LL FLIP RIGHT OVER!" Nami asks, "SO WHAT SHALL WE DOI" as the lighthouse looms. "IS JUST UP AHEAD OF THAT LIGHT. THE ENTRANCE TO THE GRAND LINE." Usopp panics from below deck, "SO WE'VE REACHED GRAND LINE, HAVE WEI WELL THIS CALLS FOR A CELEBRATION! GUYS!I" Sanji warns, "D-DON'T YOU GUYS THINK THAT ENTERING GRAND LINE IN THE MIDST OF THIS STORM IS A BIT..." The crew stands together on deck. Zoro declares, "TO BE THE GREATEST SWORDSMAN..." Chapter 100 summary

A mysterious cloaked man with a diamond tattoo on his face stands in the rain and remarks that a pirate is fine too. Buggy rallies his crew to flee the marines but Smoker engulfs them in smoke, captures them in a net, and rides off on his Billower Bike. Usopp and Nami reach the Going Merry where Usopp knocks out Mohji while Richie the lion remains. Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji run through the rain toward the ship as marines pursue them. Zoro clashes with Tashigi, defeats her in a duel, and exchanges angry words with her about her resemblance to his late friend before leaving her behind. Luffy and Sanji confront Smoker at the port, but Smoker overpowers both with his smoke attacks and pins Luffy to the ground with his jutte. An unseen hand reaches out and grabs the jutte to halt the blow.
