What happens in chapter 12

Is it realI" The dog suddenly lunges and bites Luffy's hand through the bars; Luffy yelps, "Yow!!" while the dog growls. Luffy pokes the dog's nose, "Maybe it's dead," as a small "DOINK" sounds.

Sweat drops form as Luffy, Zoro, and Nami stare in shock at the unmoving dog. Suddenly the dog lunges and bites Luffy's arm with a massive SKRNCH. Luffy yells in pain, "THAT'S NOT FOOD!! GIMME THAT KEY!!" while struggling, "COUGH IT UP!!" The dog snarls and refuses to release its grip as Luffy pulls desperately.
