Chapter 177 summary
Luffy flies backward through the air and shouts for his crew to protect Vivi and reach the palace. The others ride Hasami the giant crab across the desert while Zoro explains that Luffy will hold off Crocodile and that Vivi must survive to stop the rebellion. Vivi cries out that they will wait for Luffy in Alubarna. Crocodile and Miss All-Sunday watch from nearby, and Crocodile sends her ahead to Alubarna before turning on Luffy. He sets a three-minute hourglass and begins the fight, but Luffy's punches, kicks, Gatling barrage, Bazooka, and Axe all pass harmlessly through Crocodile's sand body. Crocodile grabs Luffy and states that a rubber human can never defeat him. Luffy interrupts the sentence with another punch, leaving Crocodile glaring in fury while Luffy asks what he was trying to say.
