I WAS ALWAYS 'ALONE' EVEN THOUGH I HAD PARENTS." In the present, Sabo tells Luffy and Ace, "WE HAVE TO MAKE IT OUT TO SEA SOMEDAY!! WE'LL LEAVE THIS COUNTRY BEHIND......AND GAIN OUR FREEDOM!!!" He then declares with fierce determination, "I'LL BECOME A GREAT PIRATE AND PROVE I'M BETTER THAN THEM ALL!!! I DON'T CARE IF THE WHOLE WORLD REFUSES TO ACCEPT ME... THEY CAN HATE ME ALL THEY LIKE!!!" Luffy pumps his fist and yells, "I'M GONNA...!!!!" and "I WON'T RUN FROM ANYBODY!!! I'LL NEVER LOSE!!! I DON'T CARE IF THEY END UP TERRIFIED OF ME!!" He adds, "I'M JUST GONNA MAKE SURE THE WHOLE WORLD KNOWS MY NAME!!!" The three boys stand together on the cliff overlooking the forest as their dreams align.

Luffy laughs heartily, "AHAHAHA HAHAH!" Ace smirks. Luffy suggests, "WHATI YOU GUYS SHOULD JOIN MY SHIP!!" Sabo replies, "...YEAH, THAT COULD BE AN ISSUE. I ALWAYS THOUGHT YOU WERE GONNA BE MY NAVIGATOR, SABO." Ace questions, "...BUT ISN'T IT GONNA BE A PROBLEM IF ALL THREE OF US WANT TO BE CAPTAINI" Luffy notices something and says, "DID YOU KNOW, YOU GUYSI" as Sabo discovers, "AHH! YOU STOLE SOME OF DADAN'S BOOZE!" The three sit around sake cups on a rock in the clearing. Sabo suggests, "WELL, WE CAN DECIDE THE DETAILS WHEN THE TIME COMES. WHO KNOWS, MAYBE WE'LL ALL END UP FORMING OUR OWN SEPARATE CREWS!!"

The scene shifts to a chaotic brawl where the three boys fight alongside and against rough-looking pirates and bandits in a ruined town street, weapons swinging and debris flying.

A massive crowd of furious bandits and pirates surges after them, shouting and swinging weapons.
