What happens in chapter 34

Jango pins Luffy to the ground and hurls his spinning blade pendulum at Nami, but Luffy rises in fury and pulls the embedded weapon from his own head. The pirates erupt in panic: "HE'S REALLY SOMETHING..." while Luffy remains upright, battered but defiant.

Jango, sweat pouring, pleads, "I'VE DONE MY BEST, THE REST IS UP TO YOU!" Nami checks Luffy's shoulder: "YOUR SHOULDER'S INJUREDI" He replies, "I'M ALRIGHT..." In a determined close-up, Nami smiles fiercely despite her tears. "CANNOT LOSE!!" she declares. "THIS IS A BATTLE THAT WE DEFINITELY..."

Luffy, wide-eyed and tense, shouts, "HOW CAN WE FINISH OFF THESE PEOPLE...!I" while Zoro stares grimly ahead. Nearby, Jango and the Black Cat Pirates panic with cries of "AAAAA!" and "WHAT...I THERE'S NO HOPE LEFT...!!!" Klahadore steps forward with a sharp "STEP" and states, "I'LL DEAL WITH THE STRAW-HAT KID...!!!" Jango yells back, "BUCHI! WE DON'T HAVE ANY MORE TIME. In the next panels, Kuro's face twists with rage and contempt. "AND I HAD TO SERVE SUCH A YOUNG, NAIVE LITTLE GIRL OBSEQUIOUSLY..." he recalls bitterly. "I WAS A CAPTAIN IN THE PAST..." A close-up shows his monstrous expression as he spits "BASTARD..." Kaya trembles, sweat and tears mixing on her cheeks. "CAN YOU UNDERSTAND HOW DEMEANING MY DAYS HAVE BEEN...I!" she cries. Luffy stands nearby, watching the confrontation unfold with a serious expression.

Kuro is sent flying backward from a powerful blow, arms flailing. "AGHHH...!!!" SFX: GOOO. He quickly recovers, pointing accusingly. "NOW THAT I THINK OF IT, I..." Kaya covers her mouth in shock, eyes wide with tears. "USOPP-KUN..." "USOPP-SAN...!!!" she gasps. SFX: SUKAA, SUU!. The suited Kuro glares as the fight intensifies. "YOU HIT ME REALLY HARD...!!!" someone shouts amid the chaos. The goggled fighter lunges forward while Kuro stands firm. "STILL HAVEN'T THANKED YOU FOR THAT PUNCH YOU GAVE ME LAST TIME..." he says coldly. SFX:!!! mark the rapid exchanges.

Luffy's fist connects with devastating force, sending Kuro hurtling through the air amid massive impact lines. "!!!!I" Kuro's body twists from the blow. SFX: PUNCH!! Chapter 34 summary

Jango pins Luffy to the ground and hurls his spinning blade pendulum at Nami, but Luffy rises in fury and pulls the embedded weapon from his own head. Luffy turns on the Black Cat Pirates while Nami urges him to finish the fight, and Kuro steps forward to deal with him personally. Kaya arrives at the cliff edge and calls out to stop Clahador, revealing she knows his true identity. She offers him all her money if he will spare the village and then draws a pistol on him. Kuro admits he seeks peace of mind as well as wealth and recounts the three years he spent deceiving her and the villagers. Usopp charges at Kuro, who easily dodges the punch, but Luffy suddenly appears and knocks Kuro to the ground with a powerful blow. Luffy declares he will hit Kuro hundreds more times.
