Jango
Jango is a hypnotist and captain of the Kuro Neko Pirate Fleet who assists Kuro in executing a long-planned scheme. He first reveals his skills while passing through a village and later participates in discussions about eliminating Kaya to secure an inheritance. Jango is known for using a pendulum to induce sleep in targets and for his ongoing collaboration with Kuro that spans multiple years.
Appearance
Jango wears a black coat over a white shirt along with gloves and boots during his initial encounters. He also sports a black hat and heart-shaped sunglasses that remain visible across multiple scenes. These elements combine with his long hair and occasional striped scarf to create a distinctive silhouette when he strikes poses or swings his pendulum.12
Later depictions show Jango in a cat-like mask with heart-shaped eyes and a pearl necklace while wearing an open shirt. His curly hair flows during dynamic movements such as dancing or leaping. These changes appear alongside marine recruit attire in subsequent periods.34
Personality
Jango reacts defensively when called a weird guy and insists he does not look strange at all. He boasts about his hypnotist identity while striking poses and making peace signs toward groups of children. These responses highlight a pattern of exaggerated posture and dramatic denial during first meetings.5
Jango becomes irritated when questioned about plans and snaps back at Klahadore about readiness. He shows panic when marines approach and begs for solutions while offering escape options. Such reactions occur alongside sarcastic remarks about intelligence and family relations during inheritance discussions.67
Abilities and powers
Jango swings a circular pendulum in wide arcs to hypnotize targets by counting one two Jango. The technique causes immediate sleep in listeners including himself on one occasion and later affects entire crews when demonstrated on the cliff. He repeats the sequence to make groups fall asleep or follow commands such as letting others pass.89
Jango demonstrates the pendulum before suited men and completes the count to induce sleep in the Black Cat Pirates. The same tool later functions as a spinning blade during confrontations. He uses it to assign blame to a bound man while counting down in front of attacking marines.1011
History
Jango first appears observing events from hiding alongside Luffy and the checkered-hat girl while Klahadore issues reprimands about drawing attention. He later stands outside the gate with Klahadore and addresses his crew as the confirmed captain of the Kuro Neko Pirate Fleet. Jango spots movement on the slope and issues warnings to the assembled group during village area observations.121314
Jango met Kuro three years prior and noticed the glasses habit before receiving a chest slash that left him sweating while looking upward. He states that five minutes suffice to settle fights and later kneels to beg Kuro for hypnosis after his sunglasses are kicked off by Kaya. Jango cuts down trees with strength sufficient to destroy large forest sections while pursuing groups during chases alongside a spherical pirate.1516
Village encounter
Jango reveals himself as Hypnotist Jango to the Usopp Pirates and performs a spinning dance pose before demonstrating hypnosis with the pendulum. He falls asleep himself after the count during this first meeting with the children.178

Jango interacts with the Usopp Pirates by agreeing to demonstrate hypnosis after their excited requests yet denies understanding of hypnotists at first. He later faces interruption from a short-haired girl during an attempt on Usopp and confronts the children who tackle him during a forest chase.518
Jango replies that he did not expect delays from the kids and protests that the kid could not affect plans while recalling instructions to let the kid go. Kuro confirms the earlier statement but snaps about Jango's uselessness and demands no more excuses. Crew members note that the Nyaban Brothers form the strongest team and even Jango cannot beat them together while Jango asks what the brothers still hope for.21
Jango is ordered to chase the children and continues the pursuit with the spherical pirate. He snarls in fury that the hypnotist can no longer interfere and internally panics upon realizing the pursuer has closed in at close range. Jango declares intent to finish off the long-haired figure quickly before laughing mockingly after a stomach strike and yelling angrily at the children while calling them brats.2223
Major battles
Jango holds up his pendulum and swings it before the two suited men on the cliff while counting one two and commanding sleep upon saying Jango. Luffy and Usopp watch in shock from the bushes as the pendulum swings again and Luffy topples forward before crashing to the ground. Kuro questions the habit and Luffy lies with zzz above him until a massive explosion blasts Luffy off the cliff edge with limbs flailing.24
During the village confrontation Jango orders the Black Cat Pirates forward yet watches Luffy remain unaffected by the hypnosis count. He sweats visibly when the rubber fighter survives the initial assault and realizes the battle will exceed the promised five minutes.2526

Fullbody points out that Jango used to be a pirate himself before Jango strikes a dramatic dancing pose and shouts shall we dance. Fullbody joins in a matching pose and the two dance energetically on the railing while shouting dance commands and promising a return shortly.33
