Inside the mansion, Merry delivers a gift from Kaya to Kuro, who smashes the new glasses and reveals his plan to take over the village as a pirate. Merry tries to flee but is slashed down by Kuro. On the Black Cat pirate ship, Jango wakes his crew and leads them ashore to attack the village. At the oiled slope, Usopp's group waits until Nami hears the pirates approaching from the north instead. They race toward the northern slope, but Nami and Zoro slip on the oil while Luffy ends up in the village. Usopp reaches the north slope alone, confronts the pirates with his slingshot, and declares he will defend the village.
