Zunesha
Zunesha is a giant elephant that carries the island of Zou on its back. The creature has lived for over a thousand years and serves as the earth for the Mink Tribe. Zunesha was sentenced in the ancient past to walk eternally after committing a crime while serving as Joyboy's companion. It responds to commands from Momonosuke of the Kouzuki clan and has attacked fleets threatening Zou.
Zunesha produces loud roars and trumpets that shake the island and ocean. The elephant rears upward amid debris when heavy rumblings occur on its back. Its movements create massive waves and allow it to strike multiple ships with its trunk in a single blow.
Appearance
Zunesha stands in the ocean as a massive elephant carrying a full island on its back with clouds at head height. The creature's head and tusks dominate lower panels with intense shading and an open mouth. Its wrinkled dark skin and trunk show impact craters and smoke after strikes.12

During the climb up Zunesha's leg the Straw Hats and samurai encounter falling objects and tremors that shake the massive limb. Kin'emon and Kanjuro struggle on their drawn cat while water and shaking make progress difficult as the sun begins to set.12
Zunesha's appearance near Onigashima creates massive ocean disturbances and draws attention from World Government ships that spot a giant shadow they cannot identify. Later Zunesha's trunk strikes the island causing widespread destruction and debris while water from its bath is released to combat fires inside Onigashima.1314

Zunesha rears amid crashing debris when heavy rumblings shake Zou during a raid on the minks. The elephant produces a loud roar triggered by the unusual ground tremors. Minks react with alarm to the movements and the reveal of Raizou.1516
