Chapter 71 summary
Usopp sits with Nojiko at Nami's house and learns that Nami and Nojiko are orphans raised in Cocoyashi Village. He grows angry at the idea that Nami has been deceiving the crew for treasure and plans to ignore her. Spotting the Going Merry near Arlong Park, Usopp recalls that Zoro was captured by the fishmen. At Arlong Park, Arlong declares fishmen the lords of creation while Zoro remains tied up. Nami arrives and claims she is an officer of the Arlong Pirates who swindled the crew. Zoro jumps into the pool, and Nami dives in to pull him out before warning him to stay away. Arlong reaches Cocoyashi Village and confronts Genzo over hidden weapons, threatening the entire village. Back at Arlong Park, Nami cuts Zoro's ropes and tells him to leave before Arlong returns.
