Kawamatsu
Kawamatsu is a fishman who survived in Wano Country by pretending to be a kappa. He served as a retainer to Kozuki Oden and later protected Kozuki Hiyori after the events twenty years ago. As one of the Nine Red Scabbards, he endured thirteen years of imprisonment in Udon before rejoining the fight against the Beast Pirates. Kawamatsu is known for his fierce loyalty, his skill with the blade Sotomuso, and his role in safeguarding weapons for the final battle.
Appearance
Kawamatsu appears as a large hooded warrior whose true fishman nature shows in his kappa-like features including a shell and hat. He wears a patterned cloak that conceals his form during many encounters and carries the sword Sotomuso once it is returned to him.12
In his full kappa form Kawamatsu reveals a massive build that remains powerful even after long imprisonment. He is shown wielding an oversized brush as a weapon in certain clashes and maintains an aggressive posture with gritted teeth during combat.31

Kawamatsu demonstrates deep loyalty to his lord and protective care toward those he serves. He sacrificed his own food so young Hiyori could eat and performed a kappa dance to cheer her after trauma. He states that thoughts of his lord's disgrace make hardships feel like a spring breeze.45

Early life
Kawamatsu arrived in Wano after a shipwreck that left his mother injured from attacks targeting fishmen. She advised him to claim he was a kappa to avoid discrimination, allowing him to survive in the region where he later encountered Lord Oden.24
Relationships
Kawamatsu cared for Hiyori with patience after her father's death constantly trying to cheer her up and sacrificing food for her. They reunite emotionally in the snow and he expresses protective guilt over past dangers she faced.57
